II <br /> <br /> Next was Colleen L¢flcr represent the Downtown Business Association and <br /> Revitalization Group requesting the closing of East Main Street from Indiana Street to <br /> Clay Street for the 2nd Annual Founder's Day Festival on Saturday, June 30, 2001. They <br /> were asking to close the street from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Councilman Mathis stated <br /> that the Mooresvill¢ Police, Street Department and Fire Department had approved the <br /> closing. <br /> <br /> Motion was made to approve closing East Main Street from Indiana Street to Clay Street <br /> on June 30, 2001 fro the 2 Annual Founder s Day Festival by Councilman Mathis and <br /> second by Councilman Clark. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Next Carl Keller and Dale Coyle requesting alley at 128 E. South be paved or graveled so -'3 <br /> they will be able to construct garages on the alley. The residents along the alley would <br /> like to use the alley to get their vehicles offthe street. Councilman Dolen would like to <br /> check the site with Joe Biekman, Street Commissioner, and will report back at the next <br /> meeting. <br /> <br /> Next was the opening of bids for the Pleiades Drive Project and 2001 Sewer Replacement <br /> for town. Four bids for Pleiades Drive Project and one bid for 2001 Sewer Replacement, <br /> the entire sewer lines north of Carlisle Street will re replaced, were received. The bids <br /> were as follows: <br /> <br /> Pleiades Drive Project: <br /> <br /> 1. Swinney Brothers was $203,947.00. <br /> 2. Force Construction was $449,276.00 <br /> 3. Milestone Contractors LP was $369,800.00. <br /> 4. Reith Riley Construction Co. Inc. was #276,285.00. <br /> <br /> 2001 Sewer Replacement for north of Carlisle Street: <br /> 1. Swinney Brother was $340,440.00. <br /> <br /> Force construction included a letter with their bid stating they took exception to the <br /> $10,000.00 per day for liquidated damages as was called out in the notice to bidders. <br /> They were concerned the hold period availably for the Town of Mooresville or the permit <br /> issues for the State of Indiana Department of Transportation may delay the start of the <br /> construction of the project, thereby jeopardizing the required completion date. In lieu of <br /> the liquidated damages, they agree to provide necessary access into the sight and through <br /> the proposed construction for the purposes of TOA machinery delivery in the event the <br /> work as specified cannot be completed by the specified date. Their bid also included <br /> were traffic control and signage, compaction testing, engineer certification of deep sewer <br /> excavation, erosion control, and miscellaneous cleating of sewer easements that were not <br /> called for by the design engineer. Not included in their proposal is rock excavation if <br /> required, state of local permit cost, INDOT or IDEM or other, or wholesale the water of <br /> excavations. <br /> <br />Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Dolen, made motion to approve the Swinney <br />Brothers bid of $340,440.00 for the 2001 Sewer Replacement for the town. Motion <br />carried 5-0. <br /> <br />President Warthen set Friday, April 20~h, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. for Special Town Council <br />Meeting at the Mooresville Town Hall to award the bid for the Pleiades Drive Project. <br /> <br />Next was Janessa Wilkinson, a junior at Mooresville High School, was nominated by one <br />of her teachers to go to Australia and New Zeeland this summer for 22 days. She will be <br />interacting with other students; they will be meeting with the government and host <br />famihes. President Eisenhower started this program in 1956 feeling that the more we <br />learn about other people and their cultures we could become better friends. She will be <br />expected to share what she did with other school and other clubs. The cost for the trip <br />will be $4,954.00 and she is asking the town if they could help sponsor her. This price <br />includes transportation, meals and all other activities. <br /> <br /> <br />
