4O2 <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councihnan Wright to approve the <br /> additional appropriation for The Mooresville Park & Recreation District for $72,900 fi'om the <br /> Food & Beverage Fund for the purchase of land. Motion carried 5-0. No one was at the meeting <br /> to speak for or against. <br /> <br /> Police Commissioner Tom Warthen reported the School and the Town (Police Dept.) have <br /> applied for a School Based Partnership Grant which is non-matching This grant addresses <br /> conflicts ofany kind within the school. He also reported the roof leaking very badly at the <br /> Police Station. Town Attorney Tim Currens said in an emergency situation they can go ahead <br /> and do the patchwork. But to put a new gable roof on the building would require prinls th awn <br /> and sent to the State for approval and 3 bids to be submitted. <br /> <br /> Fire ChiefLes Farmer explained the new OSHA ruling of 2 in and 2 out. This rule can easily be <br /> met on weekdays when office personnel are in, but in the evening and on the weekend this is <br /> harder to comply. Chief Farmer asked the Council's permission to let Asst. Chief Allen take <br /> home the Truck and Jim Bruner take home the Suburban and be the fourth man on call. The <br /> Council agreed to this and asked that the Standard Operating Procedures be written and <br /> submitted to the Council. <br /> <br /> EDC Director Harold Gutzwiller asked the Council to consider the Town joining the Regional <br /> Transit Alliance to create a Transportation Plan for the region. Each Community fl~at joins has a <br /> vote. The fee for two years is $900.00. Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by <br /> Councilman Dolen to approve joining the Regional Transit Alliance. Motion carried 5-0. EDC <br /> Director Gutzwiller will be the Town's representative on the Board. <br /> <br /> Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported twenty-three (23) calls, eleven (11) impmmdcd, <br /> and two (2) returned. The Animal Shelter plans have been returned from the State. <br /> <br /> The 10th anniversary of the Pool Party was announced as being held on June 17th, 1998. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Pygman, second by Councihnan Dolen to approve payn~cnt of <br /> the claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Council at this ti~ne, motion was made by <br /> Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Hensley to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be Tuesday, July 7, <br /> 1998, at 7:30 P.
