10"71 <br /> January 15, 2013 <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 6:30 P.M. at the <br /> Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Town Council members present were: George Watkins, Tony Langley, Virginia Perry, <br /> Mark Mathis, and Jeff Cook. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Curren was <br /> present. <br /> Dan Bradley from Mt. Gilead Church gave the invocation. <br /> A motion was made by Councilwoman Perry with a second by Councilman Cook to <br /> approve minutes of the December 18th and December 24th meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Reorganization: A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by <br /> Councilman Langley to retain George Watkins as President. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Cook to <br /> retain Councilman Mathis as Vice-President. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Brent Callahan from the Mooresville Park District appeared before the council request an <br /> expenditure of$230,000 for a zip line at the Park from Non Reverting Capital. There <br /> will be some additional expenses for the Soaring Eagle zip line of around $50,000 from <br /> the Park Department budget. The company gave the Park a 25 mile 18 month exclusive. <br /> It will take approximately three years to get enough revenue to pay the money back to the <br /> non-reverting fund. The Park Board had given unanimous approval for the zip line. A <br /> motion was made by Councilwoman Perry with a second by Councilman Cook to <br /> approve. Motion carried 5-0. The zip line is to be in operation by June 1, 2013. If not, <br /> the manufacturer will have a penalty of$500 per day. <br /> Council President George Watkins appointed Bill Roberson as a non-voting member <br /> from the school board to the Redevelopment Commission. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Cook to <br /> retain Mark Mathis and George Watkins on the Morgan County Economic Board. <br /> Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Sue Keys, a democrat, on the Police Commission,term expired on December 31, 2012. <br /> Sue had written a letter expressing her desire to serve again. A motion was made by <br /> Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilwoman Perry to appoint Sue Kays to the <br /> Police Commission for a three year term. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Councilman Langley with a second by Councilwoman Perry made a motion to reappoint <br /> Brian Anderson, Brian Moore, and Darrell Brown to the Plan Commission as three Town <br /> employees.Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Last year there was an omission error on the Park Board. Council President George <br /> Watkins appointed a Democrat,John Root,to a four year term on the Park Board. His <br /> term will end December 31, 2016.
