MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br /> <br /> The Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals met for its regular <br />meeting on September 19, 1990 at 7:00 P.M. at Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Present were board members Don Barry, Vern Kimmel, Robert Tucker, <br />Alan Kramer, and Steve Oschman. Standing in for board attorney <br /> <br />Timothy C. Currens was attorney Michael A. Ksenak. The board proceeded <br />to approve the minutes of the August meeting. <br /> <br /> The only item on the agenda was the application of Caperton <br />Development Group, Inc. for a sign variance for the placement of two <br />signs on the Town Center property. <br /> <br /> Roger Caperton advised that the ordinance requires the sign to <br /> <br />be 30 feet from the property line and there is only 20 feet in the <br />proposed construction plans. He said the Town Center sign is 60 feet <br />from highway 67 but only 20 feet from Bridge Street. He said the <br />sign would be 30 feet high and over 100 square feet in size. He <br />stated that the base of the sign would be 13 feet off the ground and <br />the ordinance requires a minimum of 8 feet. The Burger King sign <br />will be 20 feet in from the property line and 20 feet off of state <br /> <br />road 67. <br /> <br /> Steve Oschman asked why <br />so close to the road. Roger <br /> <br />the Burger King sign was being placed <br /> <br />Caperton advised that there was limited <br /> <br />space available and commented that the sign had to be on the peremiter <br />of the property and on a landscaped area. Mr. Caperton advised that <br />he had to take some additional landscaped area for use in the parking <br />lot to meet the minimum parking space per seat requirements. <br /> <br /> He further advised that with regard to the Town Center sign, <br /> <br />that it was the best appropriate spot for overall view. <br /> <br /> <br />
