Mooresville Metropolitan <br />Police Department <br />Board of Police Commissioners <br />Ernie Wilson <br />Fred Settle <br />MOORESVILLE POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES <br />These are the Minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission <br />held at the Mooresville Police Department on March 18, 2021. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Fred Settle, Ernie Wilson <br />ALSO PRESENT: Chief Kevin Julian, Attorney Charles Braun, PIO Brock Chipman <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. <br />Ernie Wilson made a motion to accept the minutes from the January 21St meeting. Fred Settle <br />seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Ernie Wilson made a motion to accept the minutes from the February 18th meeting. Fred Settle <br />seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. <br />There was no old business from the Police Commissioners. <br />Chief Julian advised that he had given Attorney Charles Braun the Bill of Rights and asked about <br />an update. Attorney Braun stated that he had started it but had not completed it. He further <br />explained that with the long session of the General Assembly that there were 10 new bill <br />proposals that involve law enforcement. While he didn't think that a majority of those would be <br />signed into law but there are a couple that are proceeding forward and could potentially change <br />things. He further stated that the proposals could have an impact on the Bill of Rights and he <br />wanted to wait until the next meeting to present to him. <br />Chief Julian advised that he was meeting with the Town of Mooresville attorney regarding <br />changing the reserve ordinance to a SOP. Once that has been completed he will present the SOP <br />to the commission. <br />Chief Julian advised that the three firearm SOP's are still in the works. Chief Julian presented the <br />commission with SOP 9.01 for approval. Ernie Wilson made a motion to approve SOP 9.01. <br />Fred Settle seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Chief Julian talked about all of the SOP's and getting them updated in a timely manner <br />concurrent with the new laws that are put in effect every year. Chief Julian stated that he has <br />asked for a quote from Attorney Braun to review all the SOPS, to update them as needed and <br />review them every year. Attorney Braun explained what his normal fee would be. <br />
