The
north torch was working, but it is no longer working at this time. He discussed some alternative
lighting methods as the current lights are not waterproof. He provided a quote for $122,300.00
from White's Electrical to repair the torchlights. There was some discussion as to the
possibilities of any legal recourse against the original contractors. The Council reached a
consensus to allow the RDC to address this project at their next meeting.
Department Head Reports —
Dave Moore requested permission to seek a new vendor for the doors and cameras as the
current vendor sold to a large corporation in California and has been increasingly difficult to
work with. There was a discussion about ensuring that all department heads are included in the
conversation as this does affect the Police Dept, Fire Dept, and Parks Dept as well. Council
member Stanley made a motion to allow Dave Moore to seek bids from other vendors.
Councilman Swinney seconded. Motion Carried 5-0.
Dave Moore announced that the leaf pick-up season will begin October 17th and will run
through December 19th. An 80/20 grant that was started
under the previous Chief has been awarded $17,600, and the department's portion will be
$4,400, but the cams must be on the officers and operational by the end of the year to be
awarded. There were two payment options presented to the council members. There will need
to be an update to the CAD system for the geolocation applications to be fully utilized, but they
are not required to operate the camera system on day one. Motorola believes it can be
accomplished before the end of the year. However, the order needs to be placed immediately
