MINUTES FOR THE MOORESVILLE PARK & RECREATION DISTRICT BOARD <br />March 6, 2023 <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. Board members present were Mark Taylor, Matt Saner, <br />Lynn Adams, Danny Shaw, Danny Lundy, Benjamin Bungard, Brent Callahan, Supt. Philip Cornelius, <br />Asst. Supt. Keelan Simpson and Office Mgr. Stacy Freeman. <br />Minutes of February 8, 2023, Executive Session approved as presented. Motion made by Lynn Adams, <br />seconded by Danny Shaw. Motion carried. <br />Minutes of February 9, 2023, Executive Session approved as presented. Motion made by Lynn Adams, <br />seconded by Danny Shaw. Motion carried. <br />Minutes of February 13, 2023, Executive Sessions approved as presented. Motion made by Lynn <br />Adams, seconded by Danny Shaw. Motion carried. <br />February 13, 2023, Board Meeting minutes were approved with a punctuation change (1st page, 3rd <br />paragraph). Motion made by Lynn Adams, seconded by Danny Shaw. Motion carried. <br />The Park Board and its staff would like to formally welcome Philip Cornelius as our new <br />Superintendent of Mooresville Park and Recreation. <br />Park Board Handbook was tabled until April Park Board Meeting for review by Supt. Cornelius. <br />The Park Board was asked to approve a professional service contract from Lehman and Lehman, a <br />landscape architecture firm, to begin the planning stages of pickleball and future park projects. <br />Motion to approve the Lehman & Lehman contract to provide professional services up to $10,000 <br />made by Mark Taylor, seconded by Danny Lundy. Motion carried. <br />The slip and fall lawsuit from 2021 was dismissed on March 6, 2023. <br />Park Board Members can attend virtually and be voting members, per the legal counsel. <br />Park Board Members must approve all employees part-time and full-time, per the legal counsel. <br />Several small community bands have been contacted and set up for the proposed Bicentennial Park <br />concerts. The park staff is currently working with the police and street departments to ensure street <br />closure, and town approval will be required for all street closures. <br />League of Miracles representatives shared more about the organization and how the Park could <br />partner. <br />The Morgan County Substance Abuse Council representative, Bridgett Morales, requested permission <br />to use a park for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. Discussion ensued. Asst. Supt. Simpson to <br />work with the Morgan County Substance Abuse Council. <br />
