'--

'--

'--

MINUTES OF THE MOORESVILLE PLAN COMMISSION

The Mooresville Plan Commission met at its regular meeting
place, the Mooresville Town Hall, on May 24, 1990, at 7:30 p.m.
Present were Board Members Signe Nicholson, Dave Minardo, Steve
Edwards, Vern Kimmel, Robert Tucker and Shirley Welker. Also
present was the Board's Attorney, Tim Currens, and Building

Inspector, Joe Beikman. Chairperson Nicholson determined a quorum

was present and proceeded with approval of the minutes of the
April 26, 1990 meeting and the May 9, 1990 special meeting.
The first item to come before the Board was the rezoning
request from Lowell O. Haltom and Deloris J. Haltom on their
property located at 199 State Road 67. The Haltoms were
requesting a rezoning from LB-Local Business to I-Industrial.
They were present in person and by counsel, Mark Peden. The
Board's Attorney advised that the notice publication and certified
letters were in order. Mark Peden explained the location of the
Haltoms property and the adjoining industrial uses, including GR
Woods, Theising Veneer, and some other related industrial uses off

of Park Drive. He also pointed out the proximity to the treatment

plant for the Town of Mooresville. He explained that Mr. Haltom

had owned the property for approximately seven years and wanted to

have the rezoning approved so he could continue his outside

storage under the industrial zoning classification. He felt that

this was consistent with the general land use plan of Mooresville

along with this type of use being next to the four lane highway.

Robert Tucker questioned why they wanted to upgrade to industrial
