<br />MINUTES OF THE MOORESVILLE PLAN COMMISSION <br /> <br />The Mooresville Plan Commission met at its regular meeting place, <br /> <br />the Town Hall, on February 26, 1987. Present were Board Members Vern Kimmel, <br /> <br />William Abbott, Tilford Bailey, Joel Beebe, Warren Franklin, David Barry and <br /> <br />Steve Edwards. The Town Building Inspector, Joe Beikman, ahd the Board's Attorney, <br /> <br />Timothy C. Currens, were also present. <br /> <br />The Vice-Chairman, Vernon Kimmel, called the meeting to order and <br /> <br />determined that a quorum was present. The Board proceeded to approval of the <br /> <br />minutes of the prior meeting. The first item on the agenda was the special <br /> <br />exception request filed by Hugh Allen concerning the property located adjacent <br /> <br />to Bob Taylor Chevrolet on East Main Street. Mr. Allen was represented by counsel, <br /> <br />David Lawson. Mr. Lawson explained that the special exception request concerning <br /> <br />the property sbown on the plat provided to the Board to place an automobile sales <br /> <br />lot in an area currently zoned Local Business. He advised that the use was acceptable <br /> <br />in General Business and acceptable in Local Business only by the granting of a special <br /> <br />exception. The Board's Attorney advised that the sole issue before the Board was <br /> <br />rather or not the proposed use would adversely affect the Master Plan. Mr. Lawson <br /> <br />pointed out the similiar uses in the area from Wilcher Ford and the Wake-up station <br /> <br />through Bob Taylor Chevrolet's sales area and Automotive Armature facility in the area. <br /> <br />The Board had a discussion and then proceeded to entertain a motion. Steve Edwards <br /> <br />moved to make a recommendation to the Board of Zoning Appeals that the proposed <br /> <br />request for special exception as stated does not adversely affect the Master Plan. <br /> <br />This was seconded by William Abbott and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />The next item to come before the Board was the unsafe building violation <br /> <br />filed concerning the property owned by Catherine Baker on West Main Street with the <br /> <br />,-' common address of 46 West Main. Catherine Baker was present along with the contract <br /> <br />purchaser, Harry Harper. Building Inspector Beikman advised the Board that the <br /> <br />building itself had been torn down and was reduced to the front portion of the <br />
