<br />MINUTES OF THE MOORESVILLE PLAN COMMISSION - JULY 25, 1985 <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br />The Mooresville Plan Commission met at its regularly scheduled meeting <br /> <br />on July 25, 1985 at the Mooresville Town Hall. Present were Board Members <br /> <br />Bill Abbott, Steve Edwards, Tilford Bailey, Ron Alexander, Helen Knight and <br /> <br />Vernon Kimmel. Standing in for Board Attorney Timothy C. Currens was Michael A. <br /> <br />Ksenak. The meeting was called to order by Steve Edwards who acknowledged that <br /> <br />a quorum was present and the Board proceeded to the approval of the minutes of <br /> <br />the prior meeting. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the minutes of the prior <br /> <br />meeting were approved. <br /> <br />The first item of new business was the rezoning petition <br /> <br />of James K. Vinton, Jr. and Connie S. Vinton of the property located at 17 E. <br /> <br />South Street from residential classification to local business. <br /> <br />The legal notices being in order, Mr. Vinton indicated that two businesses <br /> <br />surrounding his property, <br /> <br />Kentucky Fried Chicken and the VFW, <br /> <br />were presently <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br />zoned general business. His complex is presently zoned local business and he <br /> <br />simply wants to rezone the lot behind the existing building for parking purposes. <br /> <br />There is a house presently on the property which is now being used as a rental <br />. <br /> <br />unit. Mr. Vinton indicated that Dr. Kirkling's practice takes up much of the <br /> <br />available parking and the other tenants do not have sufficient space available. <br /> <br />Vernon Kimmel asked about the future use of that piece of land. Mr. Vinton <br /> <br />responded by saying that there were no present plans to expand the building but <br /> <br />that they were attempting to obtain sufficient lease agreements to build to the <br /> <br />south of the existing unit. <br /> <br />Moving to the floor, Horace Adams indicated that he had a concern for the <br /> <br />inroacl of business or commercial enterprises into the residential area. He said <br /> <br />that the use of the land in question as a parking lot did not bother him that much <br /> <br />but that his real concern was that by granting this application the Board was <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br />starting a new corridor of expansion into the residential area and felt that this <br />
