MOORESVILLE BOARD OF ~ONIN~ APPEALS MINUTES <br />NEDNESD~Y~ FEBRUi~RY 21, 1996 - ?~00 P.M. <br />MOORESVILLE TOWN H~LL <br /> <br /> The Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals met for their <br />regular scheduled meeting on Wednesday, February 21, 1996 at <br />7:00 p.m. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br /> <br /> Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals members present were <br />Alan Kramer, Vern Kimmel, Tom Warthen, and Don Barry. <br />Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals attorney Timothy Currens <br />was also present. Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals member <br />Michael Young was absent. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Don Barry to a~prove the minutes as <br />submitted of the January 17, 1996 meeting, second was made by <br />Tom Warthen. Motion carries 4 - 0. <br /> <br /> Mr. Phil Smith of Wehrle & Smith appeare~ before the <br />Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeal~ repre~entlng Best Homes <br />in their request for a temporgry sign variance. This <br />variance was denied at a previous meeting and denied because <br />of a sight problem, therefore the location of the temporary <br />sign was moved to the property of the Fellowshi~ Baptist <br />Church. The variance requested asks that the sign to be <br />located o9 the church proper~y.. Our ordi~anc~ prohibits this <br />type of sign to be located within a certain distance of <br />churches and residences. A letter of consent from the <br />Fellowship Baptist Church was submitted with the file. <br /> <br /> Phil Smith explained that the sign would not be a <br />permanent structure, meaning less than two (2) years. <br />purpose of the sign would be to give directions to the <br />Grandview subdivision. <br /> <br />The <br /> <br /> Don Barry explained that the new location of the sign <br />would be approximately one hundred-fifty (150) feet further <br />east of the first location. He also confirmed that the Town <br />of Mooresville's Ordinance designated that all signs to be <br />located five hundred (500) feet from any property line. <br /> <br /> Phil Smith stated that the sign would be located on the <br />church property and not on the easement. He explained that <br />the sign would be no more than 8' X 16' and the set back <br />would be ten (10) feet from the road. It would also comply <br />with all state and local regulations. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Vern Kimmel and seconded by Don Barry <br />to allow for the variance for a sign to be located on the <br />church property. Motion carried 4 - 0. <br /> <br /> <br />
