Perry, Clerk-Treasurer <br />August 30, 2004 <br />A special meeting of the 1Vlooresville Town Council was called for the purpose of <br />approving Health insurance policy renewal for Monday, August 30, 2004, at 2:00 P. M. <br />at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Town Council. members. present were: President Tom Worthen, Troy Bryant, John L. <br />Clark, Toby Dolen, and Eric Shields. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim <br />Currens was .present. <br />No minutes were available for approval. <br />'Dean Mayfield, Mayfield Insurance, went thru the book from CoreSource for aten-month <br />period, September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004. <br />Page one was a breakdown of expenses. The main increase was' in prescriptions medical <br />expenses. <br />Page two showed number of claimants, the net claims paid, and. the average amount per <br />claim. of $2,324.42. Prescription drugs not included. <br />Page three had a graph showing the average number of claims processed per month of <br />1$0 and net amount paid for medical of $397,475.80 averaging $220.33 per claim- <br />Page 4 gave the annualized administration costs far CoreSource that will go up $1,500 a <br />month. The Sagamore Network costs are the same. <br />Page 5 shows the percentage of where the money was spent. The network use was much <br />better, generic drug use was much higher, outpatient surgery was 18.7 °I°, but the <br />inpatient surgery was law, and drugs were 25.5°Io of the total pie. <br />Page 6 shows the amount of claims processed each month. Page 7 compared 2002/2003 <br />to 2003/2004 of claims payments. We are higher in the 2003/2004 year. <br />Page 8 shows the amount of the claixns paid thru June 2004 and Page 9 lists the top <br />twenty providers that were used, only two were not in our network. Page l0 gives the net <br />PPO savings of $178,674.70. Page 11 list`s the top eleven claimants that constituted <br />about fifty percent of our total. A couple of the conditions will be ongoing. <br />Mr. Mayfield went to two different third party insurers. St. Francis wanted us to change <br />to their network. There were two or three declines on fully insured plans. The council <br />asked why CoreSource feels there would be almost a $300,000 increase in the maximum <br />liability. Mr. Mayfield said it was because of the ongoing conditions. He also said he <br />would be shocked if the Town hit the minimum liability let alone the higher maximum <br />the insurance company had set, $20,000 at $1,202,919.00 or $25,000 at 1,23$,345.00. <br />
