5~-D <br />Councilman Mathis reported to the council that at the last Lions Club meeting they voted <br />to give $60,000 towards the renovation for the kitchen and auditorium areas at the Old <br />Methodist Church and a longevity for 25 years of use, Monday nights, two nights a <br />month. Attorney Tim Currens will prepare the legal document. Councilman Mathis said <br />the council will know how to spend the money, but he would like a Lions Club member <br />involved. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Clark, second by <br />Councilman Worthen to approve payment of the claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Mathis to adjourn the <br />meeting. Perry, Clerk-Treasurer <br />May 13, 2003 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular.session on Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at 6:30 <br />P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Council members present were: President Toby Dolen, Troy Bryant, John L. Clark, Tom <br />Worthen, and Mark Mathis. Nn members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was <br />present. <br />Councilman Mathis gave the invocation. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Bryant to approve the <br />minutes of the April 15, 2003 meeting. Motion carried S-0. <br />Brenda Mayfield addressed the council saying that thru a grant from the Community <br />Foundation, on March 26, 2003, aone-block square of downtown business was named a <br />National Historic District. Joann Stueben fxom Martinsville worked on this project for <br />two years but was unable to attend the meeting tonight. Mrs. Mayfield presented the <br />council with plaques. Councilman Mathis said he wanted to thank everyone who worked <br />on this project. Tommy HIeckner, Director of the Western Regional Office for Historical <br />Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, which is anon-profit organization spoke to the <br />council. He wanted to encourage the Town to register with the financial programs <br />available and get a brochure of tax benefits for property owners of the Historical District. <br />Fran Whittington requested the council. to see what could be done with the drainage ditch <br />behind her home at 751 Springmill Drive. This ditch is eroding their property each year. <br />She told the council it was a lot. worse than three or four years ago when she approached <br />the council with the problem. She said the ditch was 4 to 6 feet deep in some places with <br />swift running water and she was afxaid a child in the neighborhood was going to drown. <br />Councilman Worthen told the council he had talked with Ross Holloway of Holloway &. <br />Associates and Attorney Tim Currens three or four years ago and had reached a dead <br />end. He couldn't find anyone who said they were responsible. He said Ross Holloway <br />did the engineering work on Rooker Run and he had also tried to contact the engineer <br />from Dominican who had done the swan for Springmill. Councilman Worthen said he <br />could not find a dedicated easement. Attorney Tim Currens told Mrs. Whittington he <br />would have Joe Beikman, Building Inspector, pull the plats and study them and that he, <br />Mr. Currens wanted to actually see. first-hand for himself the ditch. Mr. Currens told the <br />Whittingtons he thought by June 17~', 2003 meeting they could determine who is <br />responsible. <br />
