97 <br /> The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan Resolution was postponed until July 7, 2009 meeting so all <br /> council members could read the resolution agreement. Attorney Currens said most of the others <br /> in the county have approved. We need to approve to be eligible for Federal monies. A motion <br /> was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Goodwin to table this to the <br /> July 7,2009 meeting. Motion carried 4 4 <br /> Town Hall: Erma Holmes sitting in for Clerk-Treasurer Perry explained to the council about the <br /> changing of.pay dates. Currently pay date is on Tuesdays. With the new software direct deposit <br /> can be done for payroll checks,but we have to change pay date to Fridays. In order to do direct <br /> deposit the money for the checks has to be in the bank three days before pay date. To make this <br /> as easy as possible for the adjustment paydays in July will be on Wednesday,paydays in August <br /> will be on Thursday, and paydays in September will be on Fridays and that is where the paydays <br /> will stay. Direct deposit will begin in October. Motion was made by Councilman Goodwin with <br /> a second by Councilman Langley to approve the change of pay dates. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Animal Control Officer, Mark Taylor, reported sixteen(16) calls, eleven(11) impounds, and sic <br /> (6)returns. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Goodwin with a second by Councilman Cook to approve <br /> claims to be paid. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made by <br /> Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Cook to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. <br /> 4-0. <br /> The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br /> July 7, 2009, at 6:30 P. M. at <br /> the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Council members present were: President Mark Harris, John L. Clark, Ryan Goodwin, and.Tony <br /> Langley. Vice-President Jeff Cook was absent. Attorney Tim Currens was not present. <br /> Jim Taylor, Grace Church, gave the invocation. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Goodwin with a second by Councilman Clark to approve the <br /> minutes of June 16, 2009. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Millie Gunnell appeared before the council with a complaint on the gravel pit on Highway 267 <br /> across from her property. Arvin Hopkins owns the gravel pit. She was concerned about the <br /> appearance of the property and her main problem was the trees along the road. Mr. Hopkins had <br /> bulldozed them down in April and has left them lay on the ground. The drainage ditch that runs <br /> under#267 is completely blocked off. The trees had blocked the view of the gravel pit before, <br /> but now she would like to see a burro along the highway to help block the view and to block <br /> same of the dust. Councilman Langley said the property was outside the town limits but was in <br /> the b4ffer'zone. Town Council President told Mrs. Gunnell that he hoped to get her an <br /> appointment with Attorney Currens when he is back from vacation and on the plan commission <br /> agenda. <br /> Jeff Pipkin, Morgan County Economic Development, brought some CF-1's for tax abatement to <br /> the Council. First was General Shale brick plant. It is only running for April and May on <br /> survival mode. They made the investment numbers,but the economy has affected them, <br /> therefore employee numbers are down_ This is the second plant they built. A motion was made <br /> by Councilman.Clark with a second by Councilman Goodwin to approve the CF-1. Motion <br /> carried 4-0. Olive Oak LLC and Mt. Olive LLC closed on the new building today.
