June 15,2010 <br /> 9 The Mooresville Town Council rnet in regular session on Tuesday,June 15`x',2010,at 6:30 P.M. at the <br /> Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Council members present were: President Ryan Goodwin,Tony Langley,John L.Clark,Marl.Harris, and Jeff <br /> Cook. Town attorney Tim Currens was present. <br /> Reverend Randall Garing,Life Points Church gave the invocation. <br /> A motion to approve the minutes with the following changes was made by Councilman Clark with a second by <br /> Councilman Harris. Changes are: May 18`x'meeting, instead of$1,000 for comprehensive plans put in tens of <br /> thousands of dollars for comprehensive plans. Also a change in June 1"minutes to add Old in front of State Road <br /> 67. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Molly Adams,Mooresville High School Student Council,appeared before the council said the Student Council felt <br /> that a lot of schools coming in to Mooresville would come by way of Old State Road 67 and the name of Pioneer <br /> Pride Parkway would show pride in our school. Council President Goodwin commented he had not had time to <br /> focus on this. Councilman Har'tis didn't feel that this name was the best. Councilman Langley said that the name <br /> would go with the Master Plan and the community supporting the school. A motion was made by Councilman <br /> Harris with a second by Councilman Cook to table this item to the July 6th meeting. Motion carried 3-0. Council <br /> President Goodwin and Councilman Langley opposed. <br /> Cliff Allen appeared before the council on behalf of his son Steve Allen,Brookview Court, about the flooding and <br /> mud on the streets in Grandview. Mr.Allen thanked the street department for the clean up. Attorney Currens,Dave <br /> Moore, and Joe Beikrnan had gone to the sight. Attorney Currens said Dave Moore had already sent a letter to the <br /> owner of the property next to Grandview. The property is now owned by Fairfield Meeting Church. <br /> Next,John Speer,Morgan County Big Ideas,presented to the council a competition sponsored by Creo Quality. <br /> The competition is for people of all ages within the cornamunity who have ideas for new businesses,products,and <br /> technologies. Applicants will submit their ideas via a website and a panel of judges will review the submissions <br /> based on sustainability,scalability, and reproducibility. Winners will receive cash prizes to help start their business <br /> as well as access to business mentors and resources to help learn about business ownership and entrepreneurship. <br /> All applications must be submitted by June 15,2010 and cash prizes will be awarded to winners July 10,2010. <br /> The Wastewater expansion project was awarded to Wilhelm Construction,the lowest bid of$12,047,000.00. <br /> Fire Chief,Tim Medsker,reported seventy-four calls. <br /> Street Superintendent,Joe Beilanan,stated the 911 board would need to pass the name change of Old State Road 67. <br /> A motion was made to approve$96,857.00 in a lease for a Case Loader by Councilman Clark with a second by <br /> Councilman Cool.. Motion carried 5-0. The lease will be paid fiom Local'Roads and Streets Fund. <br /> Animal Control Officer,Marl.Taylor,reported twenty-one(2 1)calls. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Cook to approve payment of the claims. <br /> Motion carried 5-0. <br /> There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made by Councilman Harris <br /> with a second by Councilman Cook to adjourn the meeting.
