<br />· <br /> <br />School bus service is available to all students who live outside <br />the city limits and to special education students who live <br />within the city limits. <br /> <br />PUblic school enrollment in 1989 for grades 1 through 12 is <br />3132, and 268 children are enrolled in kindergarten. <br />Mooresville Christian School also serves the town and has an <br />enrollment of 120 students in grades K through 8. <br /> <br />Mooresville students performed somewhat better than students <br />across the state in 1989 statewide testing. Mooresville eighth <br />grade students had an average total battery score of 57.1 <br />compared to the statewide average of 56.9. <br /> <br />Additional educational programs are available. Mooresville <br />offers the largest Indiana Vocational Technical College program <br />off the main campus, and the Mid-States Adult Education <br />Cooperation is located in Mooresville. Individual and company <br />training are available through the Circle Seven Training <br />Council. <br /> <br />Health <br /> <br />Morgan County Memorial Hospital maintains an Immediate Care <br />Center in Mooresville, and there are five general medicine <br />physicians practicing in Mooresville. Ambulance service is <br />~vailable from Brown Township Lifestar. <br /> <br />Outpatient surgery and specialty medicine of various kinds are <br />practiced at Kendrick Memorial Center, a private non-profit <br />hospital located in Mooresville for more than one hundred years. <br />The Center houses Sports Medicine & Joint Reconstructive <br />Surgery, Inc., the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery and Kendrick <br />Colon and Rectal Associates. <br /> <br />Other hospitals within a twenty mile radius of Mooresville <br />include Morgan County Memorial Hospital, Hendricks Community <br />Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital, Methodist Hospital, <br />Veterans Hospital, Indiana University Hospital, St. Francis <br />Hospital, Winona Hospital and Community South Hospital. <br /> <br />Safety <br /> <br />Mooresville is served by a police department headed by as chief <br />marshal. The department, located at Harrison and Indiana <br />Streets, has twelve deputy marshals and four emergency <br />dispatchers. The Morgan County Sheriff's Department covers <br />areas south and west of Mooresville. The Hendricks County <br />Sheriff's Department handles areas to the north, and the Marion <br />County Sheriff's Department handles areas to the northeast. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Existing Conditions 14 <br />
