1182
Indiana American Water Company and the Mooresville Town Council have since resolved their
concerns regarding water rates in Mooresville, and I'm happy to report that the 2.55%increase in water
rates granted last week will be applied consistently in Mooresville as well. No movement toward the
higher group rate for Mooresville customers is being granted at this time. The water company has
further reassured the Town that it will not seek to implement the consolidated rate strategy in
Mooresville until such time that it has made investments in Mooresville that would support this action..
The settlement agreement reached last week further limits the water company from filing another
general increase in rates until the year 2018.
By contrast, not all communities facing this move toward consolidated rates sought to oppose
this action, like was done by the Mooresville Town Council. For example, in Wabash Indiana, the news is
much different today. As part of this most recent settlement agreement, Indiana-American Water
Company was granted permission by the regulatory agency the authority to fully transition the water
rates for this community to the higher"consolidated rate group" over the next 24 months.
A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Beikman to approve the
payment of claims in the amount of$477,949.44. Motion carried 5-0.
There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made by
Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Beikman to adjourn the meeting.
The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council is Tuesday, February 17,2015, at
6:30 P. M. at the Moores ille Government Center.
Council President, Mark Mathis
•
ATTEST:
Sandra R. Perry,Clerk-Treasurer
