July 10, 2001 <br /> <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 6:30 <br /> P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br /> <br />Council members present were: President Tom Warthen, Andy Pygman, Mark Mathis, J. <br />L. Clark, and Toby Dolen. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was <br />present. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to approve the <br />minutes of June 19, 2001. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />First on the agenda was Casey's General Store rezone from B-2 to B-3. This is to be <br />located on Highway 144 and Springmill Drive. The Plan Commission voted 8-1, Andy <br />Pygman opposed, to recommend to the Town Council to rezone to B-3 with a restriction <br />that there would be one allowable B-3 use of petroleum only. A driveway cut offof 144 <br />has been approved by the State and another driveway will be on Springmill Drive. After <br />discussion, motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to <br />approve rezone from B-2 to B-3 with restriction of one allowable B-3 use of petroleum. <br />Motion carried 4-1. Councilman Pygman opposed. <br /> <br />Councilman Mathis reported to the council he and Councilman Dolen had toured the <br />sixth new firestation for their committee. <br /> <br />Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported thirty-three (33) calls, eighteen(18) <br />impounds, and four (4) returned. <br /> <br />EDC Director Helen Humes presented tax abatement proposal for Carter Lee Lumber <br />Company to the council. The Redevelopment Commission at their meeting on June 18, <br />2001 voted to recommend a ten year tax abatement. Motion was made by Councilman <br />Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to approve Declaratory Resolution # 1,2001 and set <br />advertising for a Public Hearing on Tuesday, August 7, 2001. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to approve <br />payment of claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, motion was <br />made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Mathis to adjourn the meeting. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />The next meeting of the Mooresville Town Council is scheduled for Tuesday, July 24, <br />2001, at 6:30 P.
