Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Reorganization: Motion was made by Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Dolen <br /> to nominate Tom Wartben for Town Council President. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> JcffScalf, great nephew of John Dillinger, presented a proposal to thc Town Council for <br /> Mooresville to house the museum and to have a festival. Mr. Scalf said he was tbe <br /> representative for the family and had been forced to take action against squatters on the <br /> family name rights. Mr. Sealf explained to the council the fewdval would attract visitors <br /> to Mooresville and the emphasis would be that John Dillinger was not a murderer. There <br /> would bm no romanticizing or villainizing. Councilman Dolmn said hm didn't think thru <br /> Town Council should associate with John Dillinger. Councilman Py~tnnan said he didn't <br /> think John Dillinger's sister would be comfortable with all this publicity. Councilman <br /> Mathis said that John Dillinger was a part of history, but using taxpayer's money for this <br /> would not bm a good thing to do. In return the Chamber would pay $600.00 per month <br /> to the Town of Mooresville, which would be deposited in a fund for Economic <br />- Development. Motion earriad 5.0. <br /> <br /> EDC Director Helen Humes presented a request for tax abatement on equipment for <br /> Overton & Sons Tool and Die Company. The Redevelopment Commission approved a <br /> tax abatement for this project on Monday, January 7, 2002. The equipment cost is $237, <br /> 230.00 and addition of five new jobs at SI&00 per hour plus ben,its. Ma. Humca <br /> recommended a five year tax abatement. Motion was rnadc by Councilman Dolen, <br /> second by Councilman Clark to approve Declaratory Resolution # 1, 2002 for a five year <br /> tax ahatcmcnt on equipment for Ovcrton & Sons.
