July 2, 2002 <br /> <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at 6:30 <br />P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Council membertpresent were Tom Warthen, Andy pygman, John L. Clark, and Toby <br />Dolen. Councilman Mark Mathis was absent. Town Attorney Tim Currens was present. <br /> The invocation was given by Pastor Dave Dehnke from the Harvest Lutheran Church. <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark, to approve the <br /> minutes from the June 18, 2002 meeting. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br /> New Business: <br /> At the last meeting the council went over the Finding of Facts and the Confirmatory <br /> Resolution for Nice-Pak that was published for public heating tonight. Mr. Warthen, <br /> Council President, asked if there were any question from the Council and from the floor. <br /> There being no questions, Mr. Warthen asked for a motion. <br /> Motion was made by Counci__lman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to approve the <br /> F'mding of Fact,qand Confirmatory Resolution for the Tax Abatement for Nice-Pak. <br /> Motion carded 4-0. <br /> Next Mr. Currens presented the Declaratory Resolution for tax abatement by TOA, <br /> (USA). Mr. Warthen asked for a motion to approve the Resolution. <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark, to approve <br /> Resolution #8 Declaratory Resolution for the Designation of an Economic Revitalization <br /> Area. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br /> Legal: ,~ ~ <br /> Mr. Warthen, President,S~ated~°~ee Mr. Mathis was unable to come tonight and asked if the <br /> council would table the discussion on the Ordinance for the moving nightclubs and dance <br /> halls to Special Exceptions, until next meeting, July 18, 2002. <br /> <br /> Police: <br /> <br /> Mr. Kay'reported they have several applications for the new Patrolman position and they <br /> are changing the procedure. They will first look at the applications and then test the ones <br /> that they would be interested in hiring, rather than test all the applicants. They like to <br /> have the new recruit go thru the Police Academy before they are put on the street and the <br /> next opening is February 2, 2003. Some of the applicants have been thru the Academy, <br /> and one applicant they are looking at has been thru the Academy and six or seven years <br /> experience. So they will get back with Council next month. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen, to approve <br /> payment of claims. Motion carded 4-0. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Town Council at this time, a motion <br /> was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark, to adjourn.
