851 <br /> <br />Davis Homes were wanting to build apartments on a parcel of land on Highway 67 <br />South. In order to do this the zoning would have to be changed from B-3 to <br />Residential PUD. The Plan Commission had recommended no zoning change and re- <br />ferred them to the Town Council. Davis Homes offered to provide the Town of <br />Mooresville with one to two acres for the Fire or Police to build a sub-station. <br /> <br />After much discussion, motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by <br />Councilman Dolen to deny rezoning petition,set forth by the Plan Commission, by <br />Davis Homes for the Hall property, but for the Council to work with Davis Homes to <br />find other areas in w~Lic~ to build apartments. Motion carried unani~mously. <br /> <br />T~.a~ attorney Tim Currens oresented Ordinance;-~'-2 , 1997 , the animal ordinance, for <br />the second readip~. ~otion was made by Councilman Doien, second by Councilman <br />Hensley to approve the second reading of the animal ordinance, Ordinance ~.2,1997. <br /> <br />Tim Currens also presented the Mnployment azreement with Harold ~_qutzwiler, setting <br />forth tJ~e terms of e~ployment for the Economic Development Director. The salary <br />will be $49,000.00 annually with a leased car, and a t/%irty-six (36) month <br />contract. .,Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Dolen to <br />accept the employment a~reement between Harold .Gut~iler and the Town of Moore~v-i!le. <br />~it/~ provision to change the word~l~ in the agreement from bi-weekly to annually. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Police Chief Tim Viles reported to t2~e C~uncil that Officer Tim Cummins ~.ms <br />resigning March 31, 1997. A c~:,~ndation to William Snyder vms also read <br />publicly. <br /> <br /> President .Mathis read two (2) bids for the lease of a car for the Economic <br /> Director. 1. Wilcher Ford--1997 Ford Taurus ~ ~hich is the same as <br /> a plain Lumina --$17,830.00 net lease. <br /> <br /> 2. Weliever Chevrolet--1997 Lumina LS - Too of the Line-- <br /> $19,147.1! net lease. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councikmn Dolen, second by Councilman Py%nmn to lease the <br /> ~a even though a higher price, it has more room and more extras. ~tion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported twenty-three (23) calls, six (6) <br /> impounded, and three (3) returned. 2he Animal Control Officer has now completed <br /> Law Eo~forcement Basic Trainin~ and has a Certificate. <br /> <br /> Tc~ Judge Paul Sterrett announced he ~,Duld m~e into the Town Hall on March 26, 1997. <br /> He also t/tarried the Town Council for the building improvements. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Hensley to approve the <br /> bills. Motion carried 4-1 <br /> <br /> Tov~ Council President ~{ark Mathis stated he had made the Presidential appointment <br /> to the Board of Zoning Appeals ,Brent Plunkett. He will replace Tom Warthen who <br /> resigned to serve on the Police Cum~,~ssion Board. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, motion <br /> was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilmmn Hensley to adjourn the meeting. <br /> Motion carried 4-1. <br /> <br /> The next regular scheduled meetix~g of the ~oresville Town Council will be on <br /> Tuesday, April 1, 1997 at 7:30 P. M. at the >~0oresville Town Hall. <br /> <br /> <br />
