572 <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be on <br />Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />1 zt_ <br />President, Tor6 Warthen <br />ATTEST: <br />Sandra R. Perry, Clerk- Treasurer <br />November 19, 2002 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, <br />at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Town Council members present: President Tom Warthen, John L. Clark, Toby Dolen, <br />and Mark Mathis. Councilman Andy Pygman was absent. <br />Chris Fowler from the Church at Mt. Gilead gave the invocation. <br />Doug Arthur, a City Council member at Martinsville, was present to thank the <br />Mooresville community, town council, and employees for their help to get Martinsville <br />back on track after the tornado disaster. <br />Next on the agenda the Fire Rescue Truck bid was awarded to Emergency Vehicles Inc. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Dolen to approve the <br />purchase of the rescue truck from Emergency Vehicles, Inc. They were the low bid of <br />$168,800.00, and to approve paying 90% down at time of contract of $151,920.00 and <br />save $5,038.00, which makes the new price $163,762.00. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />President Tom Warthen and Councilman Mark Mathis reported to the council they had <br />spoken to the residents concerned with the alley between South and High Street, which <br />runs east of Clay Street and they seemed satisfied with gravel on the alley. Councilman <br />Clark said he thought people should be entitled to get back to their property if they want <br />to. One of the residents asked if paving was being considered. Councilman Mathis said <br />there were other alleys which have been graveled and asphalted. He said he thought <br />gravel now for the winter and in the spring pave the alley. He said he would also like a <br />four -way stop sign and a dead end or no exit sign. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to gravel the alley <br />for winter and blacktop the alley in the spring and fix the storm drain to drain correctly. <br />Motion carried 4 -0. <br />Joe Beikman, Street Superintendent, told the council an ordinance would have to be <br />passed for signage. The council will re -visit this issue later. <br />Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported fourteen (14) calls, four (4) impounds, and <br />one (1) returned. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to approve <br />payment of the claims. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was <br />made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to adjourn the meeting. <br />Motion carried 4 -0. <br />
