<br />Legal: A motion was made by Councilman Goodwin with a second by Councilman Clark to <br />approve Council President Mark Harris as signatory for the Edwards-Rigdon contract which had <br />previously been approved by the Council. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Fire: Les Farmer, Fire Chief, reported bid packages were out for the new fire station and if all <br />goes on schedule they would begin moving dirt in August, and the move in date would be in <br />February of 2009. They would have bids to approve on August Sa' Town. Council meeting. <br />Animal Control Officer, Mark Taylor, reported twenty nine (29) calls, thirteen (13) impounds, <br />and eleven (11) returns. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Goodwin with a second by Councihx~an Clark to pay claims. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time, a motion was made by <br />Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to adjourn the meeting. Perry, Clerk-Treasurer <br />August 5, 2008 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, August 5, 200$, at 6:30 P. ~: <br />at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />Town Council members present were: President Mark Harris, Vice President Jeff Cook, John L. <br />Clark, and Tony Langley. Ryan Goodwin was absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was present. <br />Max Holtzclaw, Grace Church, gave the prayer. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to approve <br />minutes from July 15a' meeting. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Julie Lakes appeared before the council with two permits requesting closing of Main Street from <br />Indiana to Clay. The Revitalization Group is planning two events. The Roots and Rhythm <br />Festival is Sept 3, 2008 and includes a car show, motorcycle show, vendors, and food. This <br />event is a fundraiser far Victorian Christmas, December 6~', 2008. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to close Main Street between Indiana <br />and Clay Street for Roots and Rhythm Sept. 3rd between 9:00 A. M. and 7:00 P. M. and for <br />Victorian Chrishnas, December 6~' between 9:00 A. M. and 4:00 P. M. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Councilman Langley reported to the council the Storm Water Department was having a difficult <br />time doing all the work and would like to have approval to fill the Storm Water Inspector <br />position to be paid from the storm water fees. Council. President Harris agreed this was a <br />mandated situation and regulated by the State. A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a <br />second by Councilman Cook to approve hiring a Stonn Water Inspector. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Les Farmer, Fire Chief, reported the recomnnendations by Edwards Rigdon concerning the bids <br />on the uew fire station and a construction schedule. The bids came in at a total of $1,552,766.00 <br />which leaves a contingency amount of $147, 234.00. There wasn't a Heating/Air bid. The next <br />order of~usiness would be to get with Joe Beikman, Building Inspector, and Ross Holloway, <br />Engineer, to help with storm water issues. Brian Turley, Edwards Rigdon, said the asphalt <br />topping may not be put down until next spring but the binder will be put down. He will sit dawn <br />with the contractors to draw up contracts, etc. The storm water plan has been submitted by Ross <br />Holloway but Joe Beikman has to send back to Mr. Holloway to correct issues. <br />1 <br />~- <br />i <br />'~ <br />r <br />l <br />Attorney Currens reported the easement had not been signed for the back driveway. It has been <br />sent but not returned. <br />
