Susan Lieb, Mooresville Town Court Judge, appeared before the council to re uest an <br />q <br />amendment to the 2008 salary ordinance for the addition of a full time clerk. She did not budget <br />any increase for 2009 budget but would propose for her clerk to not get irisurance for one year. <br />Council President Mark Harris indicated he wanted some time to think on this. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Cook with a second by Councilman Langley to table to the next meeting. <br />Motion carried 4-0. <br />Jim Ransome, Park Board, announced the Civil War Re-enactment at the Park on September 25, <br />2008 and on October 3, 2008 the Grand Prix race: <br />Animal Control Officer,lVlark Taylor, reported nineteen (19) calls, nine (9) impounds, and four <br />(4) returned. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Goodwin with a second by Councilman Langley to approve <br />payment of the claims. Motion carried 4-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made by <br />Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Goodwin to adjourn the meeting. Perry, Clerk-Treasure <br />October 7, 2008 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. <br />at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />Members present were: President Mark Harris and Councilmen Jeff Cook, John L. Clank, Ryan <br />Goodwin and Tony Langley. Town Attorney, Tina Currens was present. <br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Mr. Bailey of First Christian Church. <br />A motion to approve the minutes of the September 16, 2008 meeting was made by Councilman <br />Cook and second by Councilman Clark. Motion carried 5-U. <br />The first item on the agenda was Senator Richard Bray, representing the American Legion, <br />seeking to vacate the alley on East Main Street on the west side of the American Legion. The <br />American Legion owns the property on both sides of the alley. Senator Bray stated that <br />neighbors on all sides have been notified and it was also published in the paper. He also stated <br />that any existing easements will be preserved. The part of the alley that runs north to <br />Washington Street will not be vacated, only the section that runs south to Main Street, adjacent <br />to the two lots owned by the American Legion. Town Attorney; Tim Currens asked if the Town <br />could reserve the right to extend any utilities if the need arises and Senator Bray stated that it was <br />iricluded in the Ordinance. Don Barry of the American Legion stated that they plan to improve <br />the area and clean out the underbrush to create a park setting and leave the west lot for overflow <br />pa~kizig: <br />A motion to approve Ordinance 10-2008, vacating the alley west of the American Legion, was <br />made by Councilman Goodwin and second by Councilman Clark. Motion carried S-0. <br />The next item on the agenda was Holloway Associates, representing lady Tractor, however no <br />one from Holloway was present. <br />The next item on the a~enda was Dave White asking permission to close Memorial Drive on <br />Saturday, November 8 from 11:00 a.m_ to 4:00 p.m. This will be for the dedication of the new <br />veteran's memorial at Newby School. The completed Street Closing Permit was submitted with <br />all of the necessary signatures from department heads. <br />u' <br />[1 <br />i <br />
