~~ Police: President Warthen asked if the council could have the statistics, citation, arrest and incidents in their packets to be able to access the need for more officers. Street Dept.: President Warthen said Mr. Beikman turned in a report on the curbs that are needed in town, with quotes on replacing and installing new curbs. There are some areas in town they xnay go to the Redevelopment Board and ask for TIF money to help with the cost. Also they are looking at using Local Road and Street Fund to help with the cost of replacing the curbs. The following are approximately what the cast will be to put in these curbs. Harrison St from where the curb stops at Franklin St - $74,000.00 W. South. St. to curb, widen and overlay the street - 76,000.00 He asked far these quotes be copied and put in the packets for next meeting. Animal Control Officer, Mark Taylor, reported twenty four (24) calls, five (5) impounds, and three (3) returns. Mativn was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen, to approve payment of claims. Motion carried 4-0. There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to adjourn. Council members present were: President Tam Warthen, John L. Clark, Toby Dolen, and Eric Shields. Councilman Tray Bryant was absent. Attorney Tim Currens was present. A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Shields to approve the minutes of Apri14, 2006. Motion carried 4-0. Heather Warthen and Kelsey Bax from Moaresville High School appeared before the Council to tell of their project. They were representing the Unity Group. for the prevention of use of tobacco. The "Drop Dead" project is a dramatization at the mini park downtown Moaresville on Monday, May l St at 3 :00 P. M. Rain date is May 4`~. A student will drop aver every eight seconds to demonstrate how after a person dies from using tobacco. Next, Jim Berge, from Sagamore Benefits, introduced himself to the Town Couxicil. He is requesting to quote on the health insurance. He would need a Business Associates Agreement to honor the Hippa law. He would also need a census of employees using their employee number and all claims for 2003, 2004, 2005, and so far this year. Council President Tam Warthen wants the insurance quoted at a 15/12, 18/12, and 24/12. A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Dolen to enter into a Business Associates Agreement. Motion carried 4-0. Les Farmer, Fire Chief, reported the little garage on the parking lot is full and asked if he could co-ordinate a Town Auction. Les was appointed for the job.
