??~ <br />Budgets: Park & Recreation budget was approved as submitted. MVH budget was <br />approved as submitted and CCD budget was approved as submitted. The General budget <br />was cut by the State Department of Local Government Finance by $517,550.00, which <br />includes Folice, Fire, Town Hall, Court, Utility, and Stormwater Departments. The <br />Town does have EDIT monies coming to them estimated around $334,000.00. Keeping <br />in mind that $50,000 of that is allocated for contribution to Morgan County EDC. <br />Attorney Currens will write a plan for EDIT to submit to the County Auditor and then <br />monies will be released. Council President Worthen asked council to think about <br />alternative funding, look over the budgets, and this would be discussed at March 7, 2006 <br />meeting. <br />Police Department: Council President Worthen told the council that motorcycles were <br />ordered in good faith and could be backed out an, especially since the general budget was <br />cut by the State. Attorney Currens talked to the dealer and there would be a penalty of <br />$1,000.00 if they dial not ga ahead and get the cycles. Councilman Clark thought since <br />the cycles were already ordered he thought they should be given a try. Attorney Currens <br />said the department heads would make the cuts in their budgets but if the total amount <br />short is not met, then the council would have to cut to make up the difference. No lease <br />had been signed far the motorcycles. A motion was made by Councilman Bryant with a <br />second by Councilman Shields to not enter into a lease agreement for the motorcycles <br />and pay the dealer $1,000.00 penalty. Motion carried 4-1 with Councilman Clark <br />opposed. <br />Councilman Shields said he wanted the council to consider an ordinance for no parking <br />on North Indiana Street from Washington Street to County Line Road, especially since <br />there is a car parking at 157 North Indiana Street and presents a hazard. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Shields with a second by Councilman Dolen to conduct a traffic <br />study to determine no parking on North Indl'ana Street from Washington Street to County <br />Line Road. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Councilman Shields also wanted the Council to recognize a senior at Mooresville High <br />School, Alex Warren, with a wrestling record of 37 wins and O lasses. He won the <br />sectional title. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Shields with a second by Councilman Dolen to <br />approve payment of claims. Motion carried S-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was <br />made by Councilman Dolen with a second by Councilman Shield's to adjourn the <br />meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council is Tuesday, March <br />7, 2006, at 6:3U P.
