He
said he would like recommendations to discuss at the next meeting. Council agreed.
'Phis item will be oa7 the agenda for 7anuary 20, 2004 meeting.
President Warthen told the council the next item was not on the agenda, but it was an
issue that came up again on Sunday. Them is a resident who is experiencing. problertlls
with the sanitary Sealer SyStet71 Such aS tIl zxa.a]or rate events. rl'he house is at the South-
end of .Bishop Street on a dead-rind with a maul T'd into it and when it rains two .inches
or more the infiltration backs up on this resident. P:residcnt Warthen said we have the
sarxte problem on Main Street. He had a map showing what has been rehabilitated in the
north end and thought this needed to be looked at again. He believes the major probletx7s
are laterals, perimeter drains~on bi-level homes, downspouts, and sunk pumps. it7 the era
these homes were built it w~is comtuonplace to run drains into the sewer line. It is now
2004 and Cime to change that. Councilman Warthen said he thought the Town needed Co
catch the entire system after a bi„g rain event and camera the rrtains to inspect the laterals
and measure the inflows and that should be able to tie in to the home the main is serving:
tic said he thought they needed to request pricing from as many contpatv.es as they cart', ; ,
and if they are willing to be on contract with the Town of Mooresville and be ready to gca~ ~~
when the next big rain happens, not if, but when.. President Warthen said this problem
began eighteen years ago. Carole Weasler told the council she had fourteen years of
pictures for documentation. President Warthen said. he believed the lines had be
rehabilitated to the best of the'l,own's ability other Chan a couple of lines here.
Councilman Bryant said v~ten he looks at the map possibly 99~I~ of sewer lines have been
replaced fi-oz1~ St. Clair Street north and he thought that would have alleviated this
problem and it seethed like it would have reduced the amount of overflow itt doing such
an extensive sewer replacement. He agreed with President W~u-then that water is getting
into the sewer thru those laterals. 'I,his area still has a loC of it's curbs, but they have been
paved over or nearly gone or cotr7pletely gone. He asked if it was the installation of the
line the way it was then that was causing the problem" We have been looking at a section
on Highway 267 that feeds Main Street and lot of that has been replaced, but still
