~4~
then we need to have those people #ix this problem. They will review the 1978 records
and if this is true, then Councilman Bryant said that is where corrections have to be made.
Councilman Warthen said he wanted to bid the Highway 267 project with the setting of
the prevailing wage. Councilman Bryant said that would be replacing from Northridge
Drive down to Memorial Drive and pick up again at Main Street to Commerce, Newby
School, water runs need to be replaced. Joe wants to do away with three manholes in that
area. The consensus of the council was that once the prevailing wage was set, they would
go ahead and advertise for the Highway 267 project. There will be some answers to
some of the questions at January 20, 2004 meeting.
Legal: Attorney Currens had an inter-local agreement that had already been passed with
Brown Township on the compressor to be signed by the council.
A motion was made by Councilman Bryant and a second by Councilman Dolen to
approve Resolution # 1, 2004 to proceed with the imminent domain on the Turner
property at 39 West Main Street. Motion carried 4-0. The next step in Che procedure is to
publish this resolution and this will come back up at the February 3,2004 meeting at
which time they can modify if needed.
Councilman Bryant asked Attorney Currens if he could explain the filling of the vacancy
on the council resulting from Mark Mathis's resignation. Attorney Currens said he really
hadn't researched this but it is done by the Republican Party and it was his understanding
that the precinct committeemen for the Town of Mooresville make the decision on who
the replacement is and that has to be a resident out of that district. Councilman Bryant
said so if there are people interested they should contact the Republican Party Chairman
or the precinct committeemen. Attorney Currens said he would say the chairman, Rod
Bray or the precinct committeemen. Just so the chairman knows, so he could set a time
for a caucus to be set. Councilman Bryant asked if they could request this to be
advertised by the council and Attorney Currens said that was out of the council's hands.
Councilman Bryant said he just wanted to make sure the people in that district knew of
this vacancy and knew where to apply if interested. He said he had some people ask hina
and he had told them Co contact Rod Bray.
Fire Dept.: The old rescue squad and the SUV have gone to the auction-
Councilman Bryant asked Joe Beikman if he had any information on the antique streeC
lights that Mark Mathis was working on, he would like to have the contact name so he
could call and get information. Helen Humes was working on this, so Councilman
Bryant will contact her.
Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported seventeen (17) calls, five (5) impounds and
Cwo (2) returns.
A motion was made by Councilman Dolen, and a second by Councilman Bryant to
approve payment of the claims. Motion carried 4-0.
There being no further business to come before the council at this time, a motion was
made by Councilman Dolen, and a second by Councilman Clark to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carved 4-0.
The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will. be on
Tuesday, J~uiuary 20, 2004, at 6:00 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall.
~~
_.., l ~r President: om Warthen
.. _~
Attest:,
.. ~~// ~' .,
Sandra R. Perry, Clerk-Treasurer
i
1
1
