9 5 i <br /> Morgan County Economic Director Joy McCarthy Sessing reported to the council she was <br /> working on two projects, one is an expansion of an existing business and the other a foreign <br /> company wishing to relocated to the U. S. She said incentives are becoming less from the State <br /> but they will do tax credits. The State looks to the locals to make up the difference. The shovel <br /> ready site on the Adams property by TOA, USA has been sent to the State a second time. <br /> A motion to approve the payment of the claims was made by Councilman Clark with a second by <br /> Councilman Langley. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was made by <br /> Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Clark to adjourn the meeting. Motion <br /> carried 3-0. <br /> The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council is on Tuesday, May 4, <br /> 2010 at 6:30 P. Perry, Clerk-Treasurer <br /> May 4, 2010 <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 6:30 P. M. at <br /> the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Town Council members present were: President Ryan Goodwin, Vice-President Tony Langley, <br /> John L. Clark, and Jeff Cook. Mark Harris was absent. Town attorney Tim Curren was present. <br /> Ryan.Goodwin gave the invocation. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to approve <br /> minutes of May 18t"meeting. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Steve Langley, Mt. Olive Manufacturing, appeared before the council to explain his reason for <br /> seeking a tax abatement on equipment. The abatement is on eight heat sealing machines to <br /> manufacture medical products. The will add five new employees at approximately$92,000 in <br /> salaries. The machines cost$170,000 and expect to be up and running in four to six months. A <br /> motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Cook to approve_, <br /> Declaratory Resolution#4, 2010, a five year abatement on equipment. Motion carried-4-0. This <br /> now goes to a public hearing. <br /> Kevin O'Farrell appeared before the council to request permission to paint North Indiana Street <br /> with lime green footprints and a banner across North Indiana Street for Relay for Life. A motion <br /> was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to approve the banner <br /> and footprints. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Justin Gifford, appliance manager for Enviro Forensics appeared before the council with a <br /> request to bore under South Indiana Street in front of Crest Cleaners. Idem has asked this bore to <br /> be done. They would like to do this in the month of May and will do it at a time the traffic is <br /> slower. They have to get permission from the neighbors to the south of Crest Cleaners. They <br /> will take soil and water samples. Attorney Currens told Mr. Gifford they will need to sign a <br /> release form and he will send a draft to them for signature. A motion was made by Councilman <br /> Clark with a second from Councilman Cook to approve conditional on the release form. Motion <br /> carried 4-0. <br /> Mooresville High School students, Mike Schiff and Max Goodin announced they would like to <br /> have a contest to name Old Highway 67 from Indianapolis Road to Highway 67. School spirit <br /> had dropped off the last couple of years and they wish to get it back. They plan to sell donuts to <br /> make $50.00 toward a sign. Councilman Langley told them he wants to get behind the schools <br /> and asked why they chose Old 67. They told him because it just came into the Town's <br /> jurisdiction. Councilman Cook said they would have to work with legal counsel and the people <br /> and business along Old 67 to see how they feel about having to change their address. Council <br /> President Goodwin said he would like them to be involved, but for the council to have the last <br /> say. Motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Clark for the <br /> students to do the footwork and then come back to the council. Motion carried 4-0. <br />
