schedule. Debbie Bain spoke of her concern for existing clients she does have as they need to
park close during tax season.
Pete Majeski, State Farm Ins., 17 South Indiana Street, spoke to the council saying parking has
always been an issue. He said there are roughly six spaces on the east side and six on the west
side of South Indiana Street and if the State comes in and takes either side it will cause a big
problem. He said he would have to ask the Town to enforce the 2 hour parking and he has
counted seven vehicles, some without tags parked in the Town parking lot on Harrison Street.
Rick Jenkins, owner of the building the tax service is in said his concern was being able to rent
his building. Mike Jetson said property values of buildings they own will go down because they
will not be able to rent their buildings.
Luke ??, 33 South Indiana Street, spoke about ambiguity with signage and parking. The parking
behind the fire station says business, he is not sure about what this signage means for people
living upstairs of business and he has issues with trucks going by all night. Andy Warren spoke
about his building at 1 West Main Street and the trucks.
Jeff Scalf asked about historical building in the downtown. Attorney Currens said the Town was
not designated as an historical district.
Bill Bailey, a resident at East High Street said he had lived there for 35 years and regardless of
what is done at the intersection or even rerouting on Monroe Street is sometimes a situation you
just have to live with. Until trucks are completely rerouted around Mooresville this issue won't
be solved.
Councilman Langley said he couldn't disagree with anything that had been said tonight. The
State is going to do what the State wants to do. He thinks saving as many parking spaces as
possible was important.
Pete Majeski said it would help to take down No turn on Red signs. Joe Beikman said the State
controls that intersection and they will not take these signs down..
Council President Ryan Goodwin state the Town is handed a situation where it doesn't control
the intersection. The State has considered moving beck the threshold for the turn lane. We need
to continue working with the state.
No Legal.
Fire Chief, Tim Medsker, reported 96 responses.
Tim Currens reported receiving a call from Chris Gale, HNTB, concerning status of pre
engineering, the state revolving fund, disaster money, and said there may be left over stimulus
money from 2009. He will get more information if going with bidding on a short time line.
Councilman Cook handed out a job description for Cheryl, Stormwater and Utility Secretary,
that he had worked with Dave Moore, Utility Superintendent, in preparing for the council. He
wants the council to review the job description.
Animal Control Officer, Mark Taylor, reported ten(10) calls, four (4) impounds, and three (3)
returns.
A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to approve
payment of claims.
