945 <br /> Tuesday,March 2,2010 <br /> The Mooresville'Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday,March 2,2010,at 6:30 P.M.at the <br /> Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Council members present were: President Ryan Goodwin,Vice President Tony Langley,Mark Harris,and <br /> Jeff Cook. John L.Clark was absent. Town attorney Tim Curren was present. <br /> Ryan Goodwin gave the prayer. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Harris to approve minutes of <br /> February 16,2010. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Dianna Roy,United Way,presented a hand out to the council. Four agencies are located in Morgan County <br /> in 2008 and 33,000 citizens of Morgan County were serviced by United Way. Council President Goodwin <br /> asked what type of work had been done with other municipalities. She replied the city of Martinsville and the <br /> county government does a campaign. Council President Goodwin recommended granting her permission to <br /> attend a department head meeting or at least contact department heads individually and they can distribute <br /> information to their employees. Councilman Langley agreed.A motion was made by Councilman Langley <br /> with a second by Councilman Cook to grant Dianna access to the department heads. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Council President Goodwin will contact her in reference to scheduling. <br /> Unfinished business: Storin water clerk issue was removed from the agenda. <br /> Fire Chief Tim Medsker reported 58 responses and also attended airport disaster drill and are attending risk <br /> assessment seminar. <br /> Mark Taylor,Animal Control Officer,reported fourteen(14)calls, six(6)iunpounds,and five(5)returns. <br /> Economic Development: Director Joy Sessing reported Morgan County EDC had its annual meeting on <br /> Thursday with Dr.Larry Deboer as speaker. Joy will be meeting with reps fiom a company from Australia <br /> who is looking at this area. She also reported South Central REMC is looking at the Harmon Becker building. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Cook to approve payment of <br /> the claims. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> There being no further business to come before the council at this time,a motion was made by Councilman <br /> Langley with a second by Councilman Cook to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be on Tuesday,March 16,20 10, <br /> at 6:30 P.M.at the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Ryan odwin, Council President <br /> AT/TEST: <br /> Sandra R.Perry,Clerk-Treasure <br /> March 16 2010 <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, March. 16, 2010, at 6:30 P. <br /> M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Council members present: President Ryan Goodwin, Vice-President Tony Langley, John L. <br /> Clark., Marls Harris, and Jeff Cook. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was <br /> present. <br /> Ryan Goodwin gave the invocation. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Clark to approve the <br /> minutes of March 2, 2010 meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Mr. Finn, Mooresville Baseball League, requested approval to have a parade on Saturday, April <br /> 17a', at 8:30 A. M. The parade route is basically the same as past years. A motion was made by <br /> Councilman Harris with a second by Councilman Langley to approve contingent on Mr. Finn <br /> meeting with Police Chief Viles and completing a street closing form. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Next was a discussion on a hiring resolution in the middle of a recession. This resolution would <br /> be temporary for retirement, resignation, termination, etc. Department Heads would have to <br /> come to council to seek funding for a position,not just hire someone. Council President <br /> Goodwin would like the council to entertain a resolution rather than maybe have to give out pink <br /> slips. Councilman Langley thinks this makes a lot of fiscal sense. Councilman Clark thought the <br /> same. A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Langley to move <br /> forward with a draft of a resolution. Motion carried 5-0. <br />
