1009 <br /> September 6, 2011 <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at <br /> the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Co'Luicil.members present were: President, George Watkins and Councilmen, John.L. <br /> Clark, Jeff Cook, Tony Langley and Mark Mathis. Town Attorney, Tim Currens was <br /> present. <br /> George Watkins opened the meeting with prayer. <br /> The minutes of the August 16, 2011 meeting will be amended to reflect that it was a <br /> public hearing on the Mt. Olive confirmatory resolution. <br /> A motion to approve the minutes, as amended, was made by Councilman Clark and <br /> second by Councilman Mathis. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> The first item on the agenda was the public hearing for the additional appropriation of <br /> $300,000 that was transferred from Rainy Day to MVH for the purpose of paving. <br /> There being no questions or comments from the audience regarding the additional <br /> appropriation, a motion was made by Councilman Clark to approve the additional <br /> appropriation of$300,000 in MVH for paving. Motion was second by Councilman <br /> Mathis and carried 5-0. <br /> The next item on the agenda was the opening of the bids for the paving and sewer line <br /> cleaning projects. <br /> Paving bids were as follows: Grady Brothers—paving at $81.60 per ton, 911 HAC <br /> surface at 1 1/z inch,with milling at $1.50 per square yard for a total of$335,772.90. <br /> Reith Riley—lump surn total of$387,800.00. Dave O'Mara Contractors - #11 surface <br /> $160,800.00, milling at 1 '/z inch$50,750.00, 2 inch milling $12,600.00 for atotal of <br /> $225,150.00. (The bid did not actually indicate a total, it was figured by Councilman <br /> Mathis.) Milestone—surface $230,825.00, milling at I % inches $16,024.25, milling at 2 <br /> inches $5,280.00 for a total of$252, 129.25. Wallace Construction was present at the <br /> meeting but forgot to bring the bid. Town Attorney, Tim Currens stated there was <br /> nothing they could do, unless all the other bids were re-bid because none of them were <br /> acceptable. All the bids will be taken under advisement. <br /> There was only one bid turned in for the sewer line cleaning and lining. It was from <br /> Insituform for cleaning and lining 2400 linear feet at$66.50 per foot, for a total of <br /> $159,600.00. That bid will also be taken under advisement. <br /> The next item on the agenda was Holloway Engineering, representing Cindy Crouch, for <br /> a rezone of Lot#1 in Dorsett's Grandview Acres Subdivision, from R-1 to I-1. The <br /> property is located on the north side of Sycamore Lane, east of General Shale. The house <br /> on the property has burned more than once and the shell is still there. The Crouch's <br /> operate a small trucking business and do hauling for General Shale. They are currently <br /> renting space from General Shale and have outgrown that space. They would like to buy <br /> the property and build a pole-type structure on it to store up to two semi trucks and <br /> trailers in. The I-1 zoning would allow for light manufacturing and basically no outdoor <br /> storage. The rezone received a unanimous favorable recommendation from the Plan <br /> Commission and there were no remonstrators at the meeting. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Cook,to approve <br /> Ordinance 9-2011,rezoning Lot#1 or Dorsett's Grandview Subdivision from R-1 to 1-1. <br /> Motion carried 5-0. <br /> The Daughters of the American Revolution have asked the Council to approve a <br /> proclamation for Constitution Week from September 17 thru the 23rd <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilma-i Langley, to approve <br /> the proclamation for Constitution Week. Motion carried 5-0. <br />
