this would be a problem. He also brought up potential water contamination
and the fact that none of the homes had capabilities to filter out any pollution
in their personal water supplies.

Chairman Osc~man then opened up discussion to the Board. He commented on

the wet mining operation asking what the process would consist of. He was
advised that there would be a drag line operated by a gasoline engine and the
gravel would be taken out wet and taken away while it was still wet. Tilford
Bailey felt that many of their requirements still were not met. The Board then
entertained a motion. Paul Walters made a motion that the Board of Zoning Appeals
do an independent study on water problems in the area and property values and
take under advisement all matters with both parties being allowed to provide
information if they deem it necessary and to look to the Department of Natural
Resources and see the effect the operation would have if it were granted. This
was seconded and unanimously carried.

Board Attorney then advised that no new notices would be sent out; however,
Mr. Kough and Mr. Lawson would be the contact parties for the Board and that any
new evidence to be presented would be at the next Board meeting at the public
meeting only with no disbursement of facts to Board members outside of the Board
meeting.

The next item to come before the Board was a petition for a variance from

the development standards filed by Richard V. Pease and Alma J. Pease under
Variance No. 7-1984 at the address of 78 Sweetwood Drive, in particular to
have a variance from the minimum set-back required by the ordinance to place
a garage. Notices were found to be in order and the request was stated as a
rear set-back from 40 feet to 5 feet and a side set-back from 12 feet to 5 feet.
This was similar to all other garages in the areas and no remonstrators were
present. Wendell Thaler then made a motion to grant the variance as requested
stating that the statutory grounds and findings for a variance from the development
standards had been met. Paul Walters seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

-10-
