chosen Willwood due to its peaceful mnd quiet nature. They had to drill 3 wells
and have 1 which is considered a dry hole. Their home costs approximately
$150,000.00 along with $20,000.00 for the lot and wells. They feel their investment
might be in jeopardy.

Karen Hayden of 659 Indianapolis Road then spoke. She is the owner of

a lot adjacent to the Burns and is planning to build in the future. She has

a fear of the water problem, noise, dust and cost of water and property values.

Steve Oschman then raised the question about the Department of Natural
Resources and the issue of surface and below surface water. Dave Lawson
advised that their comments were only directed towards the surface water.

Dave Joseph of 1434 Rooker Road then spoke. He said that no crops had been
lost in this area and that dust control following trucks in this area would be
bad. He also advised that the dropping of gravel on the road would tear it up
in a short period of time.

Dave Lawson then replied to some of the com~ents. He felt that this is a part
of progress and often a price of growth. In particular he advised the Board to
look at all areas and that this would not be a problem as proposed. He also
advised that there had been no testing as to actual depth of the wells or any
possible effect.

Mr. Tidler then spoke and advised that the mining operation would be above
the water table and since most wells are drilled anywhere from 50 to 120 feet he
didn't feel this would possibly be a problem. Mr. Gaddis responded that his well
was 40 feet and he had plenty of water. He felt that his well might be the first
to have problems. Mr. Kough stated that no experts had testified on water but
property values would be affected and same with potential injury to children.

Jeff Snap of 3 Wilson Drive then brought up the issue of traffic and kighway
67 and access. He felt that since it was next to a railroad crossing monitoring

-9-
