New Business <br /> Chief Viles advised the Commissioners of the Statistics for September 2008 and they are <br /> as follows: <br /> 266 Incident Reports 118.75 Overtime Hours <br /> 145 Arrest Reports 22,148 Miles Driven <br /> lot Traffic Citations 156 Training Hours <br /> 163 Written Warnings <br /> 17 Property Damage Accidents <br /> 5 Personal Injury Accidents <br /> Commissioners Berwick and Kays had questions regarding the type of training that <br /> occurred during the month of September. Chief Vilcs explained in depth the training in <br /> question to the Commissioners. <br /> Chief Viles advised the Commissioners of a new program, A Child Is Missing Alert, <br /> which is in connection with the Amber Alert program that is currently in use by law <br /> enforcement agencies statewide. Chief Viles advised that a Child Is Missing alert is <br /> activated often before the Amber Alert (stranger abductions of children) in that ACIM <br /> assists in ALL missing cases, such as children that are abducted, lost, wander-offs, or <br /> run-aways, in addition to elderly (often with Alzheimer's) and mentally challenged, <br /> college students or disabled individuals. Chief Viles stated that ACIM places t,000 <br /> phone calls in sixty seconds to assist in locating the missing person. <br /> Chief Viles stated that Chief Carroll with Brownsburg has invited our department to <br /> participate in their training on Monday, November 24, 2008. Chief Viles advised that he <br /> made up packets for the Commissioners and Town Attorney as well as a SOP for them to <br /> review and approve. Chief Viles stated that the program is free and he invited all three <br /> commissioners and the town attorney to the training. <br /> Chief Viles advised Town Attorney Tim Currens that he had been approached by one of <br /> the Commissioners in reference to the salaries and making recommendations to the <br /> Town Board. Chief Vilcs stated that he wanted to make sure that the correct time to ask <br /> for an increase is at the Salary Ordinance Meeting with the Town Board. Town Attorney <br /> Tim Currcns stated that was correct and that the sooner the increase was asked for the <br /> better. Chief Viles asked Town Attorney Tim Currens on the best way to ask for the <br /> increase and he stated that he would need to have the Police Commission approve the <br /> increase and then have them speak to the Police Department representative from the <br /> Town Board about the increase and then ask for the increase at that particular meeting. <br /> Commissioner Kays inquired whether there would be an increase in pay or would the <br /> department be moving him to another position to raise his pay. Chief Viles stated that <br /> currently under the salary ordinance Detective Yarnell is receiving an additional $5oo. <br /> Commissioner Kays stated that he thought that additional $5oo was for clothing <br />
