They also looked at a park with a pavilion at the small park on corner of North Indiana
Street and East Main Street. Tents could be set up for Special Events. Also
incorporate outdoor seating and an open lawn area. Then end up with way finding
signage.
Cheryl said they were also asked to look at the intersection at Bridge Street and
Indianapolis Road. Currently the intersection has a traffic rating of D. A roundabout has
been discussed and would change the traffic rating to a B for the next 15 to 20 years.
Commissioner Corman expressed concern about people jumping from the pedestrian
bridge or throwing things off the bridge.
Chairman Gutzwiller liked the combination of the two concepts.
Don Stultz would like to have more time to look at the concepts. He commented the
commission was looking for a statement piece as with the draping flag over Highway 67.
Rundell will get the commission a hard copy to print off other copies.
A meeting will be set for Friday,November 22, 2013, at 2:00 P. M. at the Mooresville
Government Center.
At this time the commission recessed into an Executive Session and then will reconvene
this meeting.
Meeting reconvened: New Business-A new business lease to consider at 260
Southbridge, Roscoe's Tacos, leasing 2700 square feet and have a 10 year lease.
A motion was made by Commissioner Corman with a second by Commissioner Stultz to
approve the lease and appoint Chairman Gutzwiller as signatory. Motion carried 4-0.
Next,Dr. Larry Moore from Mooresville Consolidated Schools spoke to the commission.
The School Board has kept the tax rate at.7874 for five years in a row. But now all of
the funds are pretty much maxed out. The school has 500 employees and they watch
money very carefully. The school expressed a sincere interest on working with the
Redevelopment Commission requesting help for maintenance and projects for the school:
1. The North Indiana Street ditch would help everyone.
2. Transportation Building that includes school, police, fire, Brown Township etc.
3. More money for Newby School repair.
4. The old Gym has some needs such as roof, gutters, and windows.
5. Academy Building needs roof, windows sealed, and gutters.
6. Community wide Wi-Fi.
Chairman Gutzwiller asked if Dr. Moore had read the Economic Development Plan
and Redevelopment Plan from 2012 and updated in 2013.
