MOORESVILLE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br /> <br /> The Mooresville Board of Zoning Appelas met on Aug. 31, 1976 <br />at 7:30 P.M. Members present were: Steve Edwards, Paul Walters, <br />Eweather Stephens~and Wareen Franklin. Also present was David E. <br />Lawson, Attorney for the board. <br /> <br /> Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved as <br />read. <br /> <br /> Oocket #3, 1976 was presented by attorney Steve Harris in behalf <br />of his clients, joint petitioners, Jerry O. and Marllyn Lou Williamson, <br />owners of property and Charles & Margaret Quillen, Contract Purchasers <br />of same property located at 31q W. Main Street. TE~- petitioners request <br />was for a variance from single family residential zoning to permit <br />construction of a double on the North end of the lot. The area in <br />question fronts on Commerce Orive and measures 110e X 65m The double <br />would be a two bedroom approxlmately 66~X28~ for rental purposes. <br /> <br /> Residents of the affected area appearing in protest of the <br />variance were: Oave Kohimeyer, Ruth Ann Robinson, ~alter Koenig, <br />Oonald ~ewe, Margaret Robinson and Richard Soughers. Concerns volced <br />were off-street parking, sewer hook-ups, overioadlng of existing <br />sewer lines, lot size in relation to problems of the size of the <br />proposed double, additional traffic on the streets and they would like <br />to see the area remain residential, single family. Objections to 1ack <br />of maintenance and upkeep of the rental property already on the south <br />end of the 1or (31~ ~. Maln Street) was stressed. <br /> <br /> Having heard evidence from petitioners and remonstrators the board <br />retired to another room to consider the request. After lengthy <br />discussion it was decided that for lack of sufficient knowledge of <br />the area and only sketchy plans from the petitioners, the board <br />would take the matter under advisement untll the next scheduled <br />meeting to be held on Tuesday September 1~, 1976, at 7:30 P.M., at <br />which time a decision wi11 have been reached.
