I

area having some industrial zoning, however, that local business

might be more appropriate to give the residential property owners

more say in the types of business uses that could be placed next

to them.

Larry Cooper of 204 East High Street advised that he had

purchased a residence in this area recently and had been at the

hearing on the Wakeman property. He advised that one of the

reasons he purchased his house was that the area would eventually

turn into a commercial one and that he felt this was the highest

and best use. He also stated that he liked his house and where he

lived but certainly was not opposed to the commercial uses in the

area. Bill Abbott advised that the zoning map showed the north

side of High Street was now primarily a commercial use and that

the other side would probably turn into a commercial use either

now or in the near future. Based upon this the local business

classification might be more suitable to this property in question

to keep the whole area from going to general business. Chairman

Kimmel then advised all of the parties present that new notices

must be sent out and that the next meeting would be April 28, 1988

at 7:30 P.M.

The next item to come before the board was the unsafe

building violation of the Lowry property at One West Main Street.

Building Inspector Beikman advised that permits had been obtained

by the Lowrys and that they still were waiting for better weather

to complete their work. Bill Abbott asked Mr. Beikman for a

recommendation. Mr. Beikman stated that he would like to see a

hearing date set if there was not substantial compliance by the

-

-5-
