her business in relationship to the zoning requirements. It seemed <br />apparent that her request was approved because: <br /> <br />1. The Attorney was, but this is unsubstantiated, miss-informed as <br />to the need for requesting rezoning in order to operate a business <br />on this property that was zoned for agricultural. <br /> <br />2. The business had already been in operation for about 1 year with <br /> little or no complaints from area residents. <br /> <br /> 3. The Plan Commission was somewhat convinced that since the <br /> business was in a previous home, blended in with the general <br /> appearance of the residential neighborhood, possibly generated less <br /> traffic than if it were a residence, and that there were possibly <br /> extenuating circumstances, rezoning was appropriate. Some <br /> advertising modifications were to be made to the property. The <br /> decision was not unanimous, and there was a great deal of <br /> opposition by local residents. This request does not, and should <br /> not, have any influence on other decisions concerning rezoning in <br /> this area. <br /> <br /> It is becoming apparent to local residents that existing business's <br /> can and are being used by Realtors, Attorneys, and Developers as <br /> stepping stones to justify their current requests to the Plan <br /> Commission and Town Council members, even when those <br /> requests only serve to line the pockets of their clients and <br /> themselves, and have a negative impact on our community. <br /> <br /> (concerning the rezoning request for 5 lots from agri. To B-3) <br /> The real concerns of the neighborhood residents as presented to the <br /> Plan Commission on June 25, are, and continue to be: <br /> <br /> The safety of our family and friends along a narrow, curving, hilly, <br /> and highly traveled hio=hway in which it is becoming increasing <br /> dangerous to get into and out of our driveways.
