our children who must wait along this hi,way to ride to school.
Our mail and paper boxes are along this highway, and many
residents must cross the highway on foot, or stop their vehicles on
the highway to get their mail.

Numerous accidents occur each year on this stretch of SR144
between Mooresville and Waverly. Four lives have already been
lost just this year.

The drainage in this area is very poor. The soil does not pass perk
tests, and there is standing water in numerous areas most of the
time. Not just in sprin~ime, but year round. We have no sewer
systems in the area to accommodate additional growth. City water
is now being pumped into the area which increases the moisture
being introduced into the ~ound. Mound septic's are now being
required in this area, but this is not a solution, it is only the lesser
of two evils, is somewhat unsightly, and still contributes to the
problem, not the solution.

The appearance of our neighborhood and property values are
important to us, and hopefully to the Mooresville Community. We
do not want more signs, billboards, lio~hts, and merchandise
displays along our highway.

It is beginning to take on the appearance of a Flea Market type
area. This is not only unsio~htly, but is distracting to motorist who
need to be attentive to their driving on this highway. We do not
want to live next door to a business that didn't exist when we made
the decision to buy our homes and live in this nice community. A
home, then a business, then a few more homes, another business,
more homes, another business, just does not seem like rational
planning and zoning for the future, and is certainly not wanted by
the many home owners in this area.
