MOORESVILLE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2005 6:00 P. M. <br />The Mooresville Redevelopment Commission met on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 6:00 <br />P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Commission members present were: Chairman Brian Nelson, Mike Haskins, and Helen <br />Humes. Jim Ransome and Jim Ellis were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens went in to <br />the Plan Commission meeting. <br />A motion was made by Helen Humes with a second by Mike Haskins to approve minutes <br />of April 4, 2005. Motion carried 3 -0. <br />Tom Liffick from Honey and Me presented a request for tax abatement on an expansion <br />to their building. They are adding 24,000 square feet to the 48,000 square feet they have <br />currently. They hope to have this expansion done by July 1, 2005. They have twenty - <br />seven employees currently and will add one skilled supervisor with an average wage of <br />25 to 35,000 dollars per year and seven full time workers at an average of $10 per hour. <br />The cost of the addition is $548,000. A motion was made by Helen Humes with a second <br />by Mike Haskins to recommend to the Town Council that a three -year abatement on real <br />property would not adversely affect TIF Area 2. Motion carried 3 -0. <br />Next, John Taylor, Morgan County Economic Director, requested tax abatement for <br />Ambassador Steel. They are building a 15,000 square foot addition to their building. The <br />building cost is $750,000 and cost for new equipment is $400,000. They will be adding <br />six new employees. A motion was made by Helen Humes with a second by Mike <br />Haskins to recommend to the Town Council a six -year abatement on real property and a <br />five year abatement on equipment and it would not adversely affect TIF 2 area and with a <br />stipulation there will be changes to the start date. Motion carried 3 -0. <br />Currently one payment has been made to Electronics Manufacturing Solutions for <br />$12,220.15. The Redevelopment Commission had approved up to $30,000. There were <br />more costs involved with setup of equipment, wiring, conduits, etc. A motion was made <br />by Helen Humes with a second by Mike Haskins to approve reimbursement to Electronic <br />Manufacturing Solutions $17,779.85 for relocation and installation costs bringing the <br />total to $30,000. Motion carried 3 -0. <br />John Taylor reported TOA would be approaching the Redevelopment Commission for <br />abatement on a 1.15 million dollar expansion. They are at a little over four hundred <br />employees at present. <br />
