8-5.9 <br /> Town Council President Mark Ivlathls amlounced Da~my Tingle has recieved Iris Certification. <br /> <br /> Anhnal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported Ixventy-eight (28) calls, eleven (11) hnpounded, and <br /> <br /> seven (7) returned. <br /> <br />· Clerk-Treasurer Sandi-a Pen'y ,'tsked the Town Council if flley wished to renew the eyecare plan <br /> from Flexible Benefits for lhe Town Employees. The cost to theTown for 1996 was $940.00 at <br /> $20.00 per employee. The Council decided to table this to the next meeting. The Council also <br /> received a calendar for Budget deadlines. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councihnan Pyg~nan, second by Councilman Dolen to approve payment of <br /> the claims. Motion carded 4-0. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to co,ne before tile Council at tiffs litne, motion was made by <br /> Councilman Dolen, second by Councihnan Pygman to adjourn tile meeting. <br /> <br /> The next meeting for the Moores¥ille Town Council will be Tuesday, July 8, 1997 at 7:30P. M. <br /> instead of July 1, 1997 because of the July 4th holiday. Motion carded 5-0. <br /> <br /> The rezone for Hop~s, Caperton, Stafford was removed from the agenda for tonight's meet <br /> Randall Allen from theI~oresville Lions Club requested permission to partially block off Sou <br /> Street in front of the Old T~wn Parkfor the Old Settlers. Motion was made by Councilman <br /> Hensley, second by Councihtxan D°lcn to approve this request. Motion carded 5-0. <br /> <br /> Next, the Molex Corporation Ta,~Abatement was brought before tile Council. Much discussi¢ <br /> was held pertaining to the Tax Abatement. Mike Young of the Mooresville Plan Comtnission <br /> wanted to know ff the Motex Corpol'q:tion had asked for free land and a ten year tax abatemen! <br /> property and equipme/nt/'from the veryX~egimfing. He also asked why the Plan Commission w, <br /> informed of the pack~r~e when Molex c/~e before them on June 26, 1997 for an amendment 1 <br /> the zoning and a miilor plat approval. Rob Ove~lon of Overton and Sons stated several mason <br /> why he felt the pafikage did not wa~,ant" b~l give-aways." He felt Mooresville did not need <br /> another plating~cident as with the Smm~dt Industries problem, that ten acres was way too mu. <br />· ground for a 2f~,000 or a 48,000 square roost bultxding, the low employment rate, and he felt the <br /> investment ~as a maybe. Motion lost 2-3. Councihnan Wright, Hensley,~nd Mathis opposed. <br /> Another motion was made by Councilman Wright, second by C~uncilman Hensley to approvo <br /> ten year tax abatement for property and equipment for Molex Co'q}orafion.
