~'~~J <br />officer's salary in the 2006 budget. President Worthen reminded him there were sixteen <br />new hires requested for 2005 and no one got their request. Councilman Bryant said he <br />couldn't see it this yeaz but maybe discuss this at budget time far 2006, Councilman <br />Dolen said we just have too tight of a budget for this year, Councilman Clark said we <br />would have to hire someone. A motion was made by Councilman Clark to approve the <br />22na officer. There was not a second forthcoming so the motion died. <br />Joe Beilcman asked the council. if they knew of any group or organization that wanted to <br />host aclean-up week or weekend as part of the Rule 13 guidelines. President Worthen <br />said he thought the mixusterial association wanted to.sponsor a clean up day sometime in <br />August or September, He will, check with the ministerial association, <br />Next, President Worthen handed out a request for the Utility Department to hire apart- <br />time employee. He told the council the funding was not there far a full year but enough <br />was there for summer and fall to help catch up on Town beautification and Rule 13, <br />samples and inspections on construction, The person could not work two 30 hour weeks <br />consecutively due to health benefits and there would be an expense for uniforms and <br />safety equipment. Councilman Bryant asked why erosion control inspections were being <br />put on the utility department. He said this was not what this department was set up for, <br />not far getting samples and inspecting construction sites. He thought that was the stxeet <br />department's responsibility. This will be tabled to the May 3, 2005 council meeting. <br />Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported twenty-two (22) calls, twelve (12) <br />impounds, and four (4) returns. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Dolen to <br />approve payment of the claims. Motion carried 4-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion was <br />made to adjourn the meeting. M, in the Mooresville Town Hall Conference Roam. <br />Council members present were: Council President Tom Worthen, Troy Bryant, John L. <br />Clark, Toby Dolen, and Eric Shields. Clerk-Treasurer Sandra Perry was present. Town <br />attorney Tim Currens was absent.
