President Warthen asked if the Department Heads would be exempt from the SO cents per <br />hour far Category 8 certification. David Moore, Utility Supervisor, already has his <br />Category 8 certification. The members said they didn't see a need for the exemption. A <br />section on Category 8 will be added to the salary ordinance and it will include the Utility <br />Department as well as the Street Department. A motion was made by Councilman Clark <br />with a second by Councilman Shields to approve Ordinance 21, 2004, which includes <br />approximately a $998.40 increase for full-time etrtployees (48 cents for hourly and <br />approximately $38.40 per bi-weekly for salary employees), an increase of $1.00 per hour <br />making it $11.00 per hour for part-time dispatchers, a three per-cent increase for Animal <br />Control Officer, Cemetery Sexton, Part time help in the Clerk-Treasurer's office and the <br />Court Clerk's office, the Crossing Guards, and part time in the Utility Department, and <br />adding a new section for an additional SO cents far Category 8 Certification for the Street <br />Department and the Utility Department (Utility Supervisor and Street Superintendent are <br />not exempt from this~~and Fire Reserves base to $9.50 per hour. Motion carried 5-0. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Shields with a second by Councilman Dolen to have <br />President Warthen and Clerk-Treasurer Sandy Perry as signatories for the salary <br />ordinance. Motion carried 5-0. <br />A motion was made to approve Attorney Currens contract for 2005. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Councilman Bryant asked about the progress of the Turner property. Attorney Currens <br />said apre-trial conference had been completed and a hearing was set for March 2005. <br />A problem had occurred with the sewer project at Boyd Heights subdivision. Swinney <br />Brothers ran into rock. They can either bore thru the rack or run laterals back from <br />Meadow Lane to the property lines. A motion was made by Councilman Dolen with a <br />second by Councilman Clark to approve the change order request from Swinney Brothers <br />to bore laterals back from Meadow Lane because they do not have to go as deep and it <br />will save $1,011.00. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported eleven (11) calls, four (4) impounds, and <br />one (1) return. Totals far the year were given as four hundred forty eight (448) calls, one <br />hundred forty four (144) impounds, and seventy-one (7l) returns. <br />A motion was made be Councilman Clark with a second by Councilman Dolen to <br />approve payment of the claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the Mooresville Town Council at this <br />time a motion was made by Councilman Shields with a second by Councilman Clark to <br />adjourn the meeting. <br />The next meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, <br />at 6:30 P.
