He <br />said this is a council decision to def ne trailers, boats, etc. He told the council he tried to <br />came up with some standards for them to look at and work with. Councilman Mathis <br />said he needed to do a little seazching around to see what effect this ordinance would <br />have throughout Mooresville. Councilman Bryant said when you are aut and looking, <br />see what options people have available to them on their property for off street parking. <br />Councilman Bryant said that six months after the ordinance is in effect, it can be adjusted <br />if there are portions too strict or things not thought of that need to be addressed. Tim <br />Cutrens said this ordinance does do away with some of the old parking ordinances. <br />Truck weights and truck routes were also discussed. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Clark to approve <br />Children At Play signs for Rooker. Run. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Councilman Bryant reported a drainage pmblem at Brookmore on Lehr Drive. The <br />properties aze owned by Jerome and Marty Witte. The feeder-streets empty out thru <br />culverts and does not have a clear path to old Highway 67. The Town has a 50-foot right <br />of way between the properties. Joe Beikman, Street Superintendent, said the Town could <br />probably open up a ditch on the right of way. <br />Legal: Motion was made by Councilman Warthen second by Councilman Bryant to <br />approve Resolution 7,2003, setting an amount of purchases in access of $2,000 be <br />capitalized for the Capital Asset record. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Attorney Tim Currens informed the council he had filed an affidavit putting the <br />Testerman property in the Town of Mooresville's name. <br />The hearing for Doug Turner's properties at 39 West Main Street and 101 West South <br />Street for unsafe buildings will be on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 2:00 P. M. <br />Dean Kays, Police Commissioner, reported to the council Officer Debbie Dodson had <br />graduated from college with a degree in Criminology. He also reported the three new <br />officers will be at the Police Academy until approximately Old Settlers time in August. <br />Councilman Mathis asked for a consensus of the council to allow the Police Dept. to <br />update their computers for a cost of $3,500. The Clerk-Treasurer had previously denied <br />the expenditure. Police Chief Viles told Councilman Mathis this was an emergency <br />expenditure. The council agreed to the update and an additional appropriation from <br />General Fund-Burglar Alarm Permits account- will be done as soon as it is possible <br />(when tax distribution is received). <br />Les Farmer, Fire Chief, told the council the Fire department will be hosting a basic CPR <br />class that is open to the public on May 19 and 21, 6-9 PM. <br />Mosquito insecticide pricing will be an the agenda for May 20, 2003. <br />Animal Control Officer, Mazk Taylor, reported thirty-faun (34) calls, eleven (1 ] ) <br />impounds, and six (6) returns. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Warthen to approve <br />,payment of the claims.
