May 20, 2003 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at 6:30 <br />P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br />Council members present: President Toby Dolen, Troy Bryant, John L. Clark, Tom <br />Warthen, and Mark Mathis. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was <br />absent. Mark Mathis gave the prayer. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Bryant to approve the <br />minutes of the May l3, 2003. Motion carried 5-0. <br />First on the agenda was Nina Langley requesting permission to paint three-foot long <br />footprints from the entrance into the High School track and football field on North <br />Indiana Street back south as far as the paint will go for the Morgan County North Relay <br />for Life. This will be the fourth year for the event. It will beheld on June 6 & 7. The <br />twenty-four hour team walking relay is to raise money for cancer research. Dave Davis is <br />the chairman and the thought was to get more people involved and to have a theme.' The <br />fvrst thought was to paint the road purple and then decided on purple footprints. Street <br />Superintendent Joe Beikman suggested the committee talk to G & C Paint in Plainfield <br />for paint that would last a little longer than regular paint. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Warthen, second by Councilman Mathis to give permission to paint with the <br />cv-ordination of the Street, Fire, and Police Departments for safety reasons. Motion <br />carried 5-0. <br />Mosquito Insecticide Pricing was next on the agenda for spraying June 1$` thru September <br />30~' (17 weeks). The price for treating of catch basins is new this year. Spraying will be <br />done in the evening between SPM and midnight. They do not reflect price of spraying time <br />labor (two men times 4 hours per spraying.) <br />Jae Beikman, Street Superintendent, told the council the larvicide really needed to be <br />used in the catch basins because if the mosquitos could be caught before flying we would <br />have better control. Councilman Mathis said he wanted 1 tame a week spraying and then <br />hit the catch basins hard. The councilmen were all in agreement and want Joe Beikman <br />to buy materials and get brochures to be mailed aut to the residents. The Clerk- <br />Treasurer's Office will help with the brochures. __ <br />c~.' <br />
