6 <br />Next was the parking ordinance. Councilman Warthen said the new ordinance that has <br />been prepared takes off any weight restrictions and he feels this is a parking ordinance <br />only They need to address a tzuck route and a.weight ordinance on our streets and he <br />feels this could be done at a different time. This new ordinance is a combination of <br />several different ordinances and will make one that is enforceable. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Warthen, second by Councilman Bryant, to approve <br />Ordinance #S, 2003 Restricting the use of Town street concerning parking and weight of <br />vehicles, and'that it be published and reviewed in six months. Motion carried S-0. <br />Councilman Bryant asked Mr: Beikman if he had gotten any cast projection of the street <br />repaixs they had discussed at the last meeting. Mr. Beikman said he had not. Mr. Bryant <br />asked about the street sweeping and wanting the council to consider how often to clean <br />the street and what to do with the debris. Mr. Bryant understands that where we have <br />currently been dumping the debris is about full and we are getting into some <br />environmental issues because some rules have changed. Mr. Beikman said we would <br />have to recycle and the cost was about $65.00 a five yard truckload. Councilman <br />Warthen asked haw much do they normally get off each sweeping. Mr. Beikman said <br />last spring they got about 1201oads yr 360 yards of debris. Councilman Bryant asked if <br />it would be less if they sweep again in mid-summer before leaf pick-up. Councilman <br />Warthen asked. about the cost of the Recycler they had talked about before. Mr. Beikman <br />said it was about $60,000.00. Councilman Warthen asked what that would do for the <br />town. Mr. Beikman said it would screen the sand from the positive trash so the sand <br />could be used for clean fill. It would also cut the cost to about $4.00 a yard on the trash <br />and it can be used as landfill. Mr. Warthen asked if there were any being used in the area <br />for that purpose. Mr. Beikman said not for that purpose, some are using them tv recycle <br />dirt they pick up. Councilman Warthen asked if this was a mobile piece of equipment <br />and Mr. Beikman said it was. He asked where you could purchase a piece of equipment <br />like this and Mr. Beikaman said there are several different places, but Deeds was one. He <br />asked Mr. Beikman to get some literature and quotes from others for the Recycler. <br />Animal Control Officer, Mark Taylor, reported twenty-six (26) calls, eleven (11) <br />impounds, and nine (9) returns. <br />Helen Humes, Economic Development Director, reported on the fire at the Overton Tool <br />& Die Company on Monday night. She had met with Steve Overton on Tuesday <br />afternoon and he is already beginning to make plans to rebuild and possibly adding on to <br />the other building. Two of our existing industries have offered room to store what little <br />equipment that was not destroyed and move it for him. Mr. Overton was telling about all <br />the offer of assistance and how wonderful the community has been to them. There is <br />always concern of the business is going to stay in this kind of situation, but she thanks the <br />Overton's are planning to rebuild and continue their business. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Warthen, second by Councilman Clark, to approve <br />payment of the claims. Motion carried S-0. <br />There being no further business to come before the Town Council at this time, a motion <br />was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Bryant, to. adjourn. <br />The next meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at <br />6:30 P.M. at the Mooresville.
