Councilman Bryant stated that Mr. Currens
has all the names and addresses for the Young Addition, where Mr. Mudd lives and has a
severe problem, and they will have Mr. Swinney give the council an estimate on the cost.
Hopefully by the next meeting they will have the estimate and be able to scud the mailers
out to all the residents in the Young Addition. Mr-Bryant asked if the mailers would be
out by the first meeting in January could they attend the second meeting and Mr. Currens
said they could if they wanted to.
Unfinished Business: Councilman Bryant stated that he had talked with Banning
Engineering this week about Boyd Heights Addition and they should have the Cieldwork
done this week and start the design work. He did not give him a timetable when it would
ready and ho would give him a call when finished.
Next was the Salary Ordinance. Councilman Warthen stated that when they were doing
the town budgets in August or September they had looked at the advertised budgets and
all the salaries, instead of snaking a decision at the time, they would set the salary
ordinance at this time. When doing the budgets they looked at the salaries in each
department and for the last four ye~~rs they have gone with a set amount across the board
thinking that it was fairest for the lower paid employees. In budgeting they figured the
salaries at either three percent or $1,000.00 across the board as done in the past. He
passed out the figures for the 2004 salaries. They had. talked with I,es Farmer, Fire
Chief, about raising the reserve. and casual firemen salaries, so that the salaries would be
in compliance with the surrounding area fire departments and other departments. 1-1e felt
the fairest incentive was to have an across the board pay inezease of $1,000.00 for full
time employees and the reserve and causal firefighters brought up to proposed pay scale.
Councilman Bryant asked it the reserve at~d casual would go from $6.50 to $7.50 per
hour and Mr. Warthen said that was correct, with the other incentives- Mr. Bryant asked
with the incentives what would the average increase be for the reserve and causal
firefighter`? Mr. Fanner said the last time he figured it the average :firefighter was getting
$8.:35 per hour now and with the incentives and pay increase it will be around $9.25 to
$9.75 leer hour. It will depend on the level of certification and it can vary-
Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Warthen, to approve the
Salary Ordinance for increase of $1,000.00 for full time employees and .3% for part time
employees. Motion tamed 5-0.
Mr- Currens said he needs to have the ordinance signed before the end of the year, so he
would like for them to approve for him to draw up the ordinance at~d let Mrs. Perry,
Clerk/Treasurer and Presidei:~t Dolen sign it. The Council said they were fine with that.
Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Warthen, to approve the
transfer of funds- Motion carried 5-0.
Mr. Currens presented a Resolution concerning our list of wasterwater customers that we
will not circulate it to anyone who does noC meet the appropriate legal requirements.
Motion. was made by Councilman Warthen, second by Councilman Mathis, to approve
Resolution #27 concerning the wasterwater list. Motion c~rricd 5-0.
Councilman Bryant asked Mr. Currens about the progress on the Turner property and Mr-
Currens said he was reviewing that early and the next step would be to attempt to
purchase it from him.
