Mr. Jeff Cave, 9435 N. Romine Road, stated they were willing to cut back on their
expansion plans for the site, but what would stop them from coming back later and doing
the expansion. He also feels there are alternative sites for them to use. He also stated
that area was zoned residential.
Mr. Swisher stated that Mr. Cave said the property was zoned residential, but it is zoned
agricultural.
Mr. Haymaker said that on the issue of them being able to over ride this board, they were
asked if they could do that and he stated that they had not contemplated that for they want
the approval of this board or they would not be here asking for the Special Exception.
Mr. Young said he would like for Hoosier Energy to look into other options they might
have and maybe there is a compromise.
Mr. Barry said the Heartland Crossing Substation at the corner of Landersdale and
Paddock Road was built close to houses and it was built last year.
After the Fact-Of—Findings were read a motion was made to grant the petition as stated
for a Special Exception for Hoosier Energy at 497 E Bunker Hill Road by Don Barry,
second by Alan Kramer. Motion was denied 2-3 and those voting against were Jon
Swisher, Mike Young and Charles McGuire.
. Next was Mary Hofforth, 11256 N. Kitchen Road,requesting a variance for a modular
home for her son so he can help with the care of the horses and maintaining of the seven
and one half acres of property. Mr. Currens stated it was not clear what she was
requesting and our ordinance has certain requirements for homes. He asked if her home
was on a septic system and if the modular home would be on septic and she said it would
be. Mr. Curren said our ordinance only allows one primary home per lot and he is not
sure what she is requesting. She said she was requesting another home on her property.
Mr. Currens asked if in affect this would be dividing the ground into two parcels and she
said it was. Mr. Currens asked how the property was zoned and she said it was zoned
agriculture.
Mr. McGuire said our ordinance only allows one house per lot and he does not see how
this could be subdivided to put two houses on it. He asked if there would be a second
septic system and did she have a permit for the second one. Mr. Hofforth said she did
have a soil sample taken and the county was doing a study. Mr. Swisher asked if there
was a better way for her to accomplish her request.
Ms. Kathy Tooley, 11248 N. Kitchen Road, stated she lives directly to the north of this
property and she is extremely sympathetic and she appreciates and understands the up
keep of the seven and one half acres. Her concern is the placement of this home and the
adverse affect it will have on her property. She is concerned that all the property owners
next to this property were not notified about this project. She is concerned with the
