Motion was made by Trustee Heald to allow East South Street to be closed between Park Dr. and State Road 144 during Old Settler's Picnic with limited access for business traffic for the businesses located on the north of South Street in this area. Trustee Fiscus second. Motion carried. Economic Development Director Randy Haymaker presented three quotes for computer equipment for the Economic Development Office to the board. The lowest quote was on Tandy equipment from Radio Shack and Mr. Haymaker recommended accepting the lowest quote. Trustee Edwards made a motion to accept the quote on the Tandy equipment from Radio Shack. Trustee Overholser second. Motion carried. Board attorney Tim Currens advised the board that he had been contacted by Linda Valentine who is working with the county on the possibility of setting up a county wide animal control department. Ms Valentine has requested a volunteer from Mooresville to serve on a co~nittee to investigate the possibility of initiating such a department. Trustee Edwards agreed to serve on this committee. The Park Department advised the board that they had awarded the bid for the Pioneer Park Swimming Pool project to Langston Construction Company which had submitted the low bid. The board decided to 'sell the 1982 Dodge Diplomat police car and the 1954 FWD Fire Truck at auction on July 16, 1988. The auction will be held on Gray Road with the town merchandise to be sold at 12:30 p.m. Motion was made by Trustee Heald and second by Trustee Overholser to approve the ~g pool affidavit of Dave Rihm. Motion carried. Motion was made by Trustee Heald and second by Trustee overholser to approve all departments of the town to install a Centres telephone system with the exception of the police department. Motion carried. Motion was made by Trustee Heald and second by Trustee Fiscus to approve a 3% pay increase plus longevity pay for all town employees for 1989. Motion carried. Motion was made by Trustee Edwards to increase the hourly rate of utility employee Ray Brown $.25 per~ hour and increase both utility employees longevity pay to $600.00 for the year 1989. Trustee Overholser second. Motion carried. Motion was made by Trustee Heald and second by Trustee overholser to re- classify the clerk-typist position in the Clerk-Treasurer's office to a claims clerk at the rate of $14,500.00. Motion carried. Motion was made by Trustee Heald to approve the bills and claims. Trustee Fiscus second. Motion carried.
